1962 Airstream Tradewind 24 - Texas

Title: 1962 Airstream Tradewind 24 - Texas
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

For Sale: 1962 Airstream Tradewind
This trailer is a “project” trailer. I started it to build a custom studio/getaway. Now I find myself running out of energy and motivation to press forward with it. When I purchased it, it had been a “Pad” for a college student and his approx. 37 pet mice. None of the appliances worked. The plumbing was shot and the electrical system was, well….questionable. I bought the trailer knowing that all things are removable. I’ve refurbished a 31 ft. airstream previously, so I knew what I was getting myself into. I removed everything from the inside. (see pictures) I replaced several areas of the floor that were weakened by long term leaks; and one spot where a bad water heater installation left a large hole in the streetside wall(inside and out). I repaired the gaps in the roof (from removal of ugly roof air conditioner, gas refrigerator vent, etc.) with standard thickness aluminum and Olympic rivets. Looks a bit rough right now, but with a bit of cleaning off the excess water resistant sealant and polishing it will look good. The electrical system: I’ve disconnected all 110v connections, planned to replace with a few underside external conduit lines for 110 for fridge, heating/ac, etc. I have retained 12v DC wiring for lights etc. I do not like 110volts housed in an aluminum wall after it gets to be over 50 years old. Disclaimer: I have tried to describe it as I see it, your perception may differ. The tires are good. I bought one new tire, and used one that was a good spare from our other car. The torsion type axle will have to be replaced, if you plan to make it into a regularly pulled camper. That would give you a new braking system and new wheel bearings. If you plan to take it home very far, as is, consider repacking the wheel bearings, and using a rear light bar to give lights, brakelights, and turn signals.

Tradewind Stats:
Approximate measurements I made.
25 ft. length overall (includes 1 ft. in back to bumper, 3 ft. front to hitch.
21 ft. length of “shell only”
87” outside width (7’ 3”)
Inside width ?
Inside height ?
Weight according to title: 3500 lbs.
Cleare Texas Title

Price $1,500
