1961 Airstream Flying Cloud 22 - Washington

Title: 1961 Airstream Flying Cloud 22 - Washington
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.

1961 Airstream Flying Cloud, 22’ single torsion axle

More photos:

Video walk-through:

VIN = 22T1SS0603
22 = 22 foot; T = twin beds; 1 = built in 1961; SS = Santa Fe Springs, CA; 0603 = serial number of the unit

We are motivated to sell and will consider reasonable offers.

Clean 1961 title in-hand, current registration in-hand, "Letter of Origin" from Airstream Inc., original black California plate, original Industrial Design Affiliates Electrical System Blueprint, original Airstream Inc. Lifetime Warranty sporting President Arthur Costello’s genuine signature who “continued to move the company forward after the passing of Airstream founder Wally Byam” in 1962.

Mostly original and complete with some very practical upgrades. A real survivor and an example of historical American manufacturing at its best. The layout is designed for more room in your front living space, allowing for entertainment and lots of design options. It resembles the early 70’s “Party Wagon” design seen in later Airstream models. The front bench pulls out to make a bed that is almost as big as a queen size.

Professional exterior polish (including banana wrap), new back window, new front window glass. Exterior battery box in the front. Rustoleum gloss black exterior paint (two coats) on hitch, rims, built-in front door step, and rear bumper. Three roof vents, Pla Cool roof vent fan, professionally polished original spun aluminum baby moon hub caps, spare tire mounted over rear bumper, original hitch wheel/“caster.” Original “Sonomatic” radio with exterior antenna, original light fixtures. Original fresh water tank, original Interior and exterior “Airguide” temperature gauges, original battery condition monitor. Double sink with “swing faucet.” Original “genuine hardwood” cabinets, refurbished with tile and carpet flooring. Full-bathroom with bathtub, sink, and loo. Four-burner range Princess stove/oven. Humphrey gas light with frosted Pyrex glass globe and hard mantle. Porch light. Polished door-in-door. Two back utility boxes on rear bumper with two coats of grey Rustoleum paint. Original Formica galley tops. Original art deco “Airstream” logo nameplate. 10 inch thick Spa Sensations memory foam mattresses. Brand new Magic Chef 3.3 Cu. Ft. electric fridge.

We have not taken it on the road, but had it delivered after it was polished. Now, it’s protected in my driveway. I'm only selling because it is time to move on to my next project, so this is your chance to own this beautiful piece of American history! We wish we could keep her.

I'm including the following extras: hitch lock, four wheel chocks, four Camco Stack Jacks (6,000 lb), reproduction etched serial number plate, and reproduction Airstream “Custom” nameplate. Airstream entrance mat, and Airstream “campfire mugs,” 4 Master locks, personal “Vornado” heater and “Arctic Air Ultra” air conditioner, Bluetooth Crosley speaker, two polished aluminum propane tanks and two Blue Rhino Propane tanks. All supporting documents and receipts.

Specifications from Airstream Inc:

“Overall length – 22ft, Body length – 19ft, Outside width at floor – 7ft 4in, Overall weight – 2900 lbs, Hitch weight – 390lbs, Height at top of hitch ball – 19.5in, Rear bathroom – Marine type flushing toilet, 12ft awning rail, molded steel bumper, warp-proof hollow core cabinet doors, “Sta-Closed” closet catches, all-over 2in aircraft type fiberglass insulation, Aircraft-type construction, heavy-duty steel chassis with fully enclosed under body, Dura-Torque torsion-bar axle, running gear, lights 110-volt and 12-volt systems.”

“Hand riveted double shell structural alloy aluminum body… All conveniences of home are found in this unit... The factory guarantees the Airstream for the life of the purchaser.”

An American icon. Early 60's Airstreams are in high demand, and this is a purists dream for serious collectors, or a blank canvas for updating and creating your personal vision: full-time home, guest house, Airbnb, personal office, traveling showpiece, vintage bridal suite, photo booth, corporate photo backdrop, paradise camper, you name it! A luxury 1960's home in an airplane shell! Purchase this Airstream and watch it go up in value. It's a rolling museum.

I look forward to sharing this treasure with you and making your “Airstream Dreams” come true!

Thank you!
