This is a grand vintage trailer with a ton of work put into it so that it is ready to roll. It is a
1958 Airstream 18' model Traveler with 7 panel front and rear end caps. It is completely camp ready and only needs some wine in the fridge and munchies in the pantry. The 6 month restoration on this trailer was just completed. It came to us as a bare shell. We took it apart and did a frame up restoration. The interior walls were all removed and new wiring installed throughout the cabin both
12v and 110. We removed all the old insulation and installed new insulation before reinstalling the inner skins. The flooring is a strand Bamboo solid wood floor that was placed in wall to wall front to back. All of the cabinetry was custom made of cherry wood. It was not stained but 4 coats of satin polyurethane were applied. Although currently incredible in tone cherry wood will darken and become more rich over time surely adding to the look. The original sink, stove, and ceiling light were present so we refurbished them and used them in the build. The counter tops are a wonderful stone Formica. an original
1958 Airstream table was used for the dinette and was given the new Formica as well. The wall were painted a light sage green to augment the cherry wood tones.
This trailer has a ton of storage for such a small trailer. Bare in mind that this is an 18' trailer bumper to tongue, meaning the cabin is only 15' long by 7.5' wide. There is storage above and below the fridge, under the bed, above the closet, under the dinette benches, under the kitchen cabinet, and above both bed and kitchen. This trailer originally had no holding tanks and we have kept it that way. The original porcelain toilet, missing when it came to us, would have required hook up to an external septic. We have installed a brand new Thetford cassette style toilet (port-a-potty) for clean and easy dumping. The original privacy wall forthe toilet would have gone to the ceiling we chose to make it a half wall to allow for light and air flow and to give the trailer a more open feel.
All of the windows were given new screens and operators repaired or replaced to insure proper functioning. The windows all work properly and given that there are two on either side as well as front and back breezes flow through the trailer nicely. New roof vents were installed (one was missing). We ran separate wiring to the rear vent for the installation of an AC unit if someone desired at a later date to place one. I personally hate the way they look on the top of these vintage trailers and prefer not to put one on.
This is not a trailer for living in full time but more of an adventure pod for short trips and get a ways. It is ideal of a single person or couple. It tows nicely, sets up easy, and attracts a lot of attention.
This is a 58 year old trailer so it is not perfect but is is clean straight and ready to take you on the adventure of your lifetime.
