Eddie Bauer Table Mods

With the helpful links that others have provided (thank you!) to the company supplying the latest Eddie Bauer table parts (Springfield Marine Company), we purchased the shorter 29" posts to reduce the table height a few inches in our 2015 EB 27' Twin. It feels much more natural to us at this height. We also bought black bases, for aesthetic reasons only (the stock silver was getting badly scratched). We also bought the plastic plugs to fill the base holes when not in use. Lastly, with an extra table bracket, we bought a 24" unfinished pine round from Lowe's and made the smaller table pictured below, for occasional use, and to open up some space. Because it uses a single post, it can be placed in the from or rear positions.

That's what I like about the Eddie Bauer, that wide open living room is like a blank canvas to an artist, and it's available in two mid-range sizes. Easy conversion to dinette mods, recliners fit well, theatre seating will fit.

Not crazy about the front bed idea but the rear hatch requires it. We could make do like many Airstream things.

It looks like Airstream is winding down production of this terrific design, any news on that?

Awesome conversion, Joe! Where do you store the round table top when not in use?

Thanks Kristi. We have twins in our 27' EB, so we don't have table storage under the queen like other models. As a result, we store whichever table we are traveling with in the foot or so of empty space between the foot of the street side bed and the bathroom wall - see image below. A few pillows wedged in and we are good to go. Best, Joe

Interesting perception, Doug. I'm curious why you don't like the front bedroom configuration. This is the only AS we've had, so it's all we know, and we like it. But, trying to think objectively, on most of our trips, we are backed into a space that looks out over something cool (lake, forest, desert, etc) and the front end is usually looking at our truck. We sit at the dinette with the "garage door" open and get the view, smells, air from the area. I usually don't care about any of that when I'm sleeping. Just wondering what you like about the back bed arrangement?

Good solution, Joe. Is this your solution to table storage or where AS suggests you store the original table top? Are there still clamps in the wardrobe for the legs?

I am definitely going to pursue the second table option - such a great idea. I also like shortening the legs. I'm 5'4" and the table has always been too high for me - I have to sit on a pillow to be comfortable. (I might have to consult my 6' husband about this...

IF your camping is always with a rear view it is a wonderful idea. We travel 6-7 months a year all over the U.S. during the winter months using a variety of camping venues. Sometimes we have the view out back, sometimes not. Much of our winter travel is enjoying RV resorts in the southern states. There we would sometimes be backed up to another camper, sometimes a fifth wheel camper with the big window in the back, sometimes to a wall or park model. But with the front living space we have always been able to find a spot open in front and usually open on one side. The front living space never gives us a bad view.

We also like the quiet and privacy of the bedroom back, and the privacy afforded by the dark tinted rock guards in front for our living room.

I think we could also use the excellent Eddie Bauer scheme in these venues as well, it just would not be as easy to find a suitable spot. We're inconsistent on this, our do-it-yourself new house project is oriented to the back. We just like lots of windows to take in the views, Airstream or house.

Hi Kristi. When we insisted on twins for the EB, Airstream said we'd have to find our own solution for stowing the table top. The legs still store in the closet, but attach with these snap on strips, as opposed to plastic clips.
