I can't oversell the convenience of the hatch, after nearly a year... it's really all we expected and more. Certainly carrying a kayak etc is a dream - But forget hauling, it's such a wonderful way to extend the space of the trailer into the outdoors.
Heck, I was able to watch march madness with the hatch open lounging in my camp chair. :-)

I'd be shocked if we don't hear of a new rear hatch model this coming week when the 2017 changes are announced this week.

I just noticed there are two Eddie Bauer 27FB's, both MY2012, on RVTrader.com. There are also three 25FB's on the website as well for anyone who may be in search of one of these units that are no longer in production.

27FB "Flying Eddie"

A few months ago we were also looking for a 27' Eddie Bauer. We did not like the decor nor the price premium on the Pendleton.

We need the hatch so we can load our tandem bicycle in the trailer. We want the hatch because of the ventilation and open air for the dining area. We did not need nor want the folding benches nor industrial flooring of the EB.

Two weeks ago, we picked up our "Flying Eddie" from Canam RV in Ontario. Canam installed the same rear hatch used on the Eddie Bauer and Pendleton on a 2017 Flying Cloud 27FB Twin. Looks and works great!

ARF - congratulations, and how cool! We would love to see pictures of the hatch on a Flying Cloud! Curious if they implemented it any differently than the OEM version of the hatch.

Flying Eddie pics

I will try to take an upload some pics next week.

Our dealer (CanAm) used the OEM hatch from Airstream. All identical to the EB and Pendleton door including the pull down screen. Slight mods to the bench cushions to allow for the screen frame. CanAm thoughtfully relocated the rear power outlets to the side. CanAm even doubled up on the lift brackets because they noticed these bent on the EBs. I also ordered the rear bumper mat.

OK. Here you go. Pictures of our 27FBTwin Flying Cloud with the "Eddie Bauer/Pendleton" rear door installed.

The main reason we got this door installed was to load our tandem bicycle into the trailer. We found out afterwards that we can put our tandem bike in through the side door. However we love the rear door and cannot imagine living in our airstream without it.

Alumafandango last week, we were treated to a skype call with Justin Humphries of Airstream on the new models and sales projections.
There will be another version of the hatch back (EB, Pendleton) on the way. It will be another partnership with a company, with their style and branding, but still a secret.
I thought of "Hello Kitty", as a humorous design, but I think it will be more sports/outdoor.
Just MY guess, but Cabellas/Bass Pro shops/North Face could be a contender, , ,

I'm new to all this and only recently started researching campers. Can you put a motorcycle in the back of an Eddie Bauer edition Airstreamer?
