Curtains

My husband and I took our first look at the Eddie Bauer 27 yesterday. In fact it was our first look at any Airstream and we had a blast (spent ALL day) going in and out of all of them. Because we enjoy the great outdoors and my husband is like a camp master - having to have everything set up just right so other than to go in and sleep, you would have NO reason to go inside! As a result, we haul tables, chairs for anyone that might just happen to stop by, etc. So we feel the Eddie Bauer is perfect for us. Now if I can just figure out a way to pay for it! One question I had, I noticed in the bedroom there were no shades behind the bed - only the curtains. Do they block most or ALL of any outside lighting?

Also, any of you wanting to sell your 27 Eddie Bauer??? I am obsessed over these!!

Having worked 18 years on grave shift I can "see" the need for blackout curtains.
It is hard to sleep late with the current level of light. Street lights will be too bright for me.
I'm looking into thermal/blackout liners to add. It will be a custom made fix.

I have the EB 27FB, and only the single AC unit- so not one in the bedroom. The fantastic fan is what brings in the most light- not the curtains.

Agreed that the light coming from the Fantastic Fan is the major source of morning-light annoyance. I made a canvas cover that can be attached to the opening via velcro that works like a charm in decreasing/eliminating that morning light source.

The attached photos show it completely covered (when fan is not being used during the night) and also attached only by the forward two pieces of velcro, to still allow for ventilation on hot nights when you want to use the fan. This simple cover works very well under both circumstances.

These photos were taken at high noon, so a lot more light is coming through than you'd get in the morning. You could also make this out of something even more opaque, like marine vinyl (which I think I'll do, now that I've mentioned it) for even greater light blocking.

Remax. I made some curtains using fabric like one would use on an ironing board ... Silver, heat resistant and has cotton batting. I'm a quilter so you can see my fabrics are quite bright, but you could use anything. These keep out light and the TexasClick image for larger version
