A lot of keys!

Finally got one! New to us, 2012 Eddie Bauer. The people at Bill Thomas Camper Sales in Wenttzville Mo, were wonderful. First outing this weekend, cold nights, great heater; according to wife and daughter. Thanks to everyone posting on this forum, we've learned so much that our first outing was an unqualified success. Just, a lot of keys to figure out.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! Funny but I was just thinking about the same thing today and wondered if anyone had rekeyed all locks to one non-issued key... We've had our trailer for a couple of months now. Lots of keys...

Take care,
Rich

Congratulations. We have had our rig since March 2016 and the keys are still somewhat of a mystery. Have fun!

First thing I did when we got our AS was to use letter stamps and put ID's on each of the keys! Still use them all the time!

Brian

(second thing I did was to hide a spare set "somewhere" on the trailer!)

This company makes tubular cam lock cylinders with matching keys that will fit most locks on our Airstreams.

I did about the same. I used an electric engraver on my keys. I hid an AS door key on the TV.

Lucky You!!

Congrats on the Eddie Bauer. I saw that trailer on the BT Camper website. We bought our used 22 FB sport from them last year and had a great buying experience with them as well.

FYI the MO state parks let you make reservations 6 months ahead of time. So it is not too soon to begin planning some trips for the spring. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the key ideas, we're still learning, but absolutely love it. As to the Missouri Parks, I will definitely follow up on that. Still coming to grips with this enormous sense of freedom!

2 Tri Mark Keys - entry door and deadbolt
Deco key - storage bay door
CH 751 - potable water fill
Do you have more keys than that?
I have added padlocks (bumper storage, water compartment, curb side banana wrap storage, bicycle locks), tongue lock, and propane tank lock, so I have 7 keys rather than the usual 4.

Make sure you've got duplicate keys for everything. The last thing you need are surprises.

...and keep the duplicate keys in the tow vehicle...
It might also be a good idea to have duplicate tow vehicle keys in the trailer...

We replaced the keyless toggle closures on the the battery compartment, outside fridge panels with a locking version of the original lock... they were direct replacements with keys from Ace Hardware. Had them all keyed the same... Still have the water door key, the two door keys and one storage compartment key. Oh, and we put little padlocks on the bumper compartment and water heater access doors...won't keep anyone out if they really want to get in, but it discourages kids from fiddling. Again, the padlock keys are all the same. And we have the hitch lock key too... It does add up to a bunch of keys...

I put locks on cupboards using the same locks. Be careful they come in different lengths.
I paid less than that Canadian so try Home Depot or one of the hardware chains.

lots of keys

I thought my handful of keys was because my trailer is 39 yrs old.
Mine has different keys for:
entry door
refrigerator access door
battery door
water fill door
I have added the following to the ring
Hitch receiver key
Tongue lock key
Key to padlock for generator cable etc...

If you don't have a locking bolt for your hitch receiver or stinger, get one. We just got back from a caravan thru Santa Fe and they told us to put the hitch in the truck or lock it because they have been stolen (to sell for scrap). Someone on the prior caravan had to drive to Albuquerque twice to get his stolen hitch replaced and set up.

For my 2017, I have 10 keys total. The 2 Tri Mark keys to the door plus 8 additional ... one of which was added by the dealership for the battery box, 1 for the receiver hitch, and one for the tongue lock ...

BOLT Locks

You might want to check out BOLT Lock who makes Padlocks, 6′ Cable Locks, 5/8″ Receiver Locks, 1/2″ Receiver Locks, Coupler Pin Lock, Jeep Locks, Toolbox Latch Retro-Fit Kits, GM Tailgate Handle that can be keyed by the user to match their tow vehicle ignition lock if you want to save on some of the keys you need to carry. I use the padlock on my receiver, the 5/8" receiver lock and the 6' cable lock and use the ignition key that I have with me any way.

I had the same problem, too many keys! I went to a local locksmith company and using the key that already fit my side storage and battery compartments he replaced and rekeys my water door lock and my front storage box behind my propane tanks. I like that I only need one key for all these compartments. I made three sets and bought inexpensive color coded key caps to identify them. My total cost was about $50.00.
