25FB Nightstand Solution?

My wife are debating on which model. We like the idea of the 25FB being able to go more places than the 27FB, but we have one sticking point. We both want nightstands.

Has anyone tried to put a shelf or something on the side without a nightstand?

Our solution was to buy the 27FB. . In a tight national park campground, though, the recess idea may work better.

Can't find the link, but one woman got a wooden standard kleenex box cover, painted it silver, and mounted it on the wall, in the same location as the indented pocket shown above. I mounted a fold down coffee cup holder on that wall - Camping world cheapo, but I'm sure there are any number of narrow shelves you could mount on that wall, something similar to a shower caddy - maybe in clear acrylic? .....SAY how about keeping your ANT FARM on a shelf right there? (Yes that was a sick joke.)

You could just cut a slot in the wardrobe wall in line with the top of the wardrobe shelf that separates the wardrobe from the drawer. You could then put larger objects, books etc in there from the bed. Add another shelf in the wardrobe so you can still put shoes etc in the wardrobe.

I put in a simple gray shelf from the container store. I really hate the magazine rack which was in the trailer when I bought it from the dealer...

Yeah, the magazine racks are fine, but not if you want to put a glass of water or a coffee cup down! Your shelf is out of the way - but you must be a tall person to have it so high.

Here's a lazy idea - you know those steam table trays that are about 2 inches deep. I found one that fits right in the drawer box. On an rainy day when I want to laze in bed and read a trash novel, I've put one in the top drawer, and added a cuppa coffee, apples or grapes and noshed. Even if I spill the coffee the tray protects the contents of the drawer. If you want to live dangerously get a cutting board, pull out the drawer and put the board over the drawer box... works fine, but use lidded cups!

Oh, and it isn't elegant, but I keep a kleenex box ON the wall - Use a Command hook, and punch a hole in the bottom of the kleenex box and hang it on the hook!

OK, What I have done here is buy a 3 gal waste basket @ Walmart and use the top as my trim after i cut the hole to give me access to the bottom of my hanging closet which i have converted into shelves.. Total cost $4.00 and change

Man I hate that sideways bed. If we had it to do over, we would go with the 27ft.

Not crazy abut it here either but we have adapted to it well, beats sleeping alone in twin beds for sure. Otherwise a perfectly sized trailer for our many varied travel and camping experiences so we manage.

Am enjoying some of the night stand solutions here, and noted there seems to be some room low in the back side of the shirt closet for perhaps a stack of small recessed containers. Never thought of recessed boxes, only was considering shelves.

Here you go ...from my post last August:

How about a shelf for DW side of the bed ...
Busy weekend for us and a happy wife - happy life / spouse unit!

Since AS did not install a mag rack (like we had in our 2013 EB) when our new EB was built ...a project was born; aluminum edging (to prevent her items such as TV controller, cell phone, lip gloss from rolling off) on a fabricated rectangular plastic shelf with extra angle aluminum support hidden behind a (needed to be installed) factory magazine rack lower edge. It is through bolted into the closet to make a very nice rigid shelf...even room for her mug on the shelf.

Don't ask how long it took to fab and install ...but well worth the effort.
She knows how much I <3 her !!! This is as unique as she is.
We could not use anything recessed into the wall or it would cause even further reduction in the closet area. Installed in this position, the shelf is not in the way of any part of the body when arising. We tried several different elevations and fore/aft/side movement to settle on this location for the shelf. Note that the rear of the shelf allows clearance for a large mug or tall glass and positions it out of the way to avoid potential spills.

We have a 27 FB but if were looking today I would seriously look at the 25FB twin. There are a number of happy campers with this floor plan.

• Smaller, lighter, can easily tow with a half ton, and still a north south bed. (vola you both have a nite table).
• The 27FB has that fuel tanks blocking access storage in the front compartment where the 25FB twin the storage units access are curb and street side.
• We originally owned a 23 FB with the same bed configuration , east- west and my wife did not like it at all on a number of issues access in and out, head space above, you will tire of that in a short order.
