Hello, I am purchasing a 2012 28' International Serenity from an Airstream dealer in Eugene, OR and I am located near Hershey, PA. The dealer has a transportation company that wants $1.86 per mile and with the trip being approximately 2,900 miles, transportation would be about $5,400. Any suggestions as to how to get the Serenity here cheaper would be appreciated. Thanks!
Since you bought it from a west coast dealer, I would go pick it up. It would save you transportation costs. Since you bought an Airstream to travel, I would go get it and make it an adventure to the west coast.
I know several guys that run trucking companies/transport outfits. Base rate that they charge is $1.50 a loaded mile and they are fully insured and bonded. You may find a cheaper price, but as mentioned above, they may not be from a company that you can trust with transporting such an investment.
Best bet is to take the time and go get it yourself.
Midnightmoon, would you be able to forward the contact information? I just might have someone transport the trailer from the OR dealer to Stillwater, OK then go and pick it up from Stillwater, OK. I would love to do the entire trip since I have a new F350, however, don't have the time right now. Thanks!
