Overview We bought our Argosy in May of 2007, and had just a few weeks to get it camping ready for a Memorial Day trip with friends. We replaced all the cushions, fabric & curtains, and were off! Since then we've continued to make improvements, and can't imagine life without it!

Not unexpectedly, the endcaps needed help. We're still trying to get a closer match on the paint, but we were at least able to get the old paint off & put a new coat on.

Interior

The interior was in amazingly good shape; there was a lot of corrosion & rust that needed to be cleaned up from the electrical outlets & stove, etc, but for the most part we got lucky. We like the original layout, so we don't plan on doing much more than cosmetic fixes in the future.

Customization

We replaced the broken door lock/handle - I used Inland's aftermarket retrofit kit, it worked great and saved about $400 over the OEM replacement. They also sell the plastic slider that covers up the hole in the screen door.

Systems and Running Gear
Most of the electrical system, including all outlets and switches. Now it's dual RV battery with a marine 1,2,Both,Off switch in the bathroom closet and a battery meter, lasts about 4 days when camping in the boonies using everything. New IntelliCharger. Soon to have a 3000 watt inverter. All new plastic latches, window latches & window slides. Refinished all interior aluminum window screen trim. All new interior lights, cleaned and greased vent mechanisms. LED night light settings in bathroom and bedroom area. Updated door gaskets. New water heater. Refurbished awning from an Airstream (Love the awning!). New toilet, new shower head. 4 new 3-way speakers and stereo system. A new heavy duty grey tank rack and plumbing.

Other Information
We plan to replace all the copper water lines with PEX plastic lines (wonderful stuff) and a pressure reservoir tank, and update the kitchen and sink faucets. After that, it'll be time to replace the black tank pipes, the slide valves are very sticky and things are starting to seep... :-(
And a new AC cover next year, new tires to replace the "MayPop" specials, etc.

Tow Vehicle

Haven't towed with it yet. I expect to get 14mpg towing, 18 unloaded on the freeway. It seems to have about the same power as the 5.7 gas, and it should be quite reliable as it has the all mechanical fuel injection.

1991 Chevy K5 Blazer 5.7 TBI, 4 speed manual 4WD 6" lift 4.88 gears with 35" tires.
Tows very well, quite stable with 1000 lb load leveler bars. A little underpowered on the steeper hills, about 9mpg towing, 12 unloaded on the freeway.
I'm not sure why it tows so well with the short wheelbase, possibly the stiff suspension?

1987 Chevy K5 Blazer 5.7 TBi, 700R4 Automatic 4WD 6" lift 3.08 gears with 35" tires. Stable tow vehicle but extremely underpowered with the 3.08 gears. About 10mpg towing and 15mpg unloaded on the freeway. I would always adjust the shocks to the stiff setting when towing, this pretty much eliminated any body sway.
