Also, forces us to be out and about more!
"Bigger is not better, better is better". We looked at larger units and they were very nice, but the design of the 16 just worked better for us. We are just two and don't travel with animals or a lot of stuff. I guess we are still in backpacking mode in many ways. We have traveled thousands of miles in two different truck campers and a 15 ft molded fiberglass trailer and our new 16 Sport seems huge. We find that 90% of the time we are in spots that have bath houses and 99% of the time at least water and a pit toilet. We may very well use the ouside shower, but I don't see us using the "wet bath" at all. We don't cook inside except to heat water. Our 16 came with a microwave and a tv both of which we took out. I guess we are a little different. But as the poet Rumi said, "there are many ways to kneel and kiss the ground".

We bought our Airstream because I feel, well this quote sums it up:

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”

― Mark Twain: The Innocents Abroad/Roughing It
Yes, believe it or not there are a lot of us who are still country, from the south and socially progressive.
Family of 4 living, working & exploring the USA in our Airstream.

Adam & D Greene, we really liked our 16' Bambi, and got the slightly bigger one (still a Bambi) because we really liked the Flying Cloud interior, the exterior upgrades (like the rear bumper,) and having a bit more bathroom and kitchen space. If Bambi #1 hadn't been in an accident, we would still have it. We spent weeks at a time in it, and never felt cramped. The wet bath shower came in handy in boondocking sites without showers, but we only used it on dry windy days, so that the interior would dry out quickly. We agree that for anyone used to tent-camping, the 16' Bambi seems palatial. Space is more a state of mind than an actual length.

Adam, congrats on your Airstream purchase! Post some pics for us all to see. It would be fun to follow your trip west, so post when you can. Also congrats on 5 years with your partner. My partner, Alex, and I celebrated 20 years last November. We are thinking a bit about getting a small AS trailer to do short weekend trips thinking it would be easier then taking the motorhome out all the time.
