Rainbow Sticker On Truck/Airstream?
I have a rainbow sticker on my car and was wondering how big of a risk am I taking putting one on the Airstream and truck or is it better to pass due to more small town type interaction with campers?
We mostly camp in national forest campgrounds with a few long travel RV park type trips a year. I'd like to travel all over the country with the stickers but I don't want any problems with people while I'm out having a good time/on vacation.

Rellik, do what you want. This is America. Home of the free. If they don't understand, well then they can just move on. It takes all kinds of people to make this world spin. I don't see any issues. Half of the people that see your sticker probably won't know what it represents anyway.
Hope this helps,
Shane

When you start living in fear of what other people think of you, then you are not free. I say put whatever sticker wherever you want it.

Rellik, double edged post with a political edge...
If I were gay and I did not enjoy confrontation, slashed tires, keyed cars or a damaged TT I would NOT put rainbow stickers on my TT/TV.
If I were gay and I did not support a bigotted world, bashers, and was willing to argue my rights with any hothead I would ABSOLUTELY put a rainbow sticker on my TT/TV.
I think it depends on the kind of person YOU are. If you are willing to take meeting others in the community along with less enlightened folk go for it! Either way I suport your right to sticker up and hate that you live in a world where you need to ask for fear of bigoted retaliation!
Here in Los Angeles "loud and proud" seems to be the way. Stay true and let you be you!

Why do you need to present the "rainbow"? I have always agreed with freedom of speech, but some things are meant to be private...

For the same reasons people put Ichthus, Flying Spaghetti Monster, McCain Palin, Obama, NRA, Ducks Unlimited, AIR Stickers, WBCCI numbers, Calvin Peeing on _____ or any other sticker you put on your truck or Airstream.
I enjoy knowing that I'm not alone and I'm in the company of people that share something in common with me.

The only sticker I put in the Bambi is the Air Forums sticker. I think when everyone in the campground sees two guys, two big dogs and martini glasses come out of a 19 ft trailer they know! I say put it on and who cares what others think. Most people will just think it's pretty! I've never had a problem and I live in a very conservative state.

If it's important to you, put it on your Airstream! I agree that most people not in the know would just think you like rainbows!

If you're having mixed feelings you could always put a cute rainbow sticker on the rear window so it's more mysterious.

I can't imagine anybody defacing my traveling rig for whatever sticker I might wear (except perhaps my brother's ol' W sticker ... and not sure why that seems particularly vulnerable).
FSM?! Cool! Instead of 'more cowbells' -- how 'bout 'more Ctulhu!'

I got NO stickers of any sort on any of my vehicles - I'm touchy about the finish ... but it's a free country; put what you want on your AS.
But if you do, just remember that some folks will be ignorant, while some folks will be tuned in. Amongst the tuned in ones, some folks will be friendly, and some not so much. Almost as if you put any of those other stickers on your vehicle.
As for me, if I see you with a rainbow on your AS, my wife and I will buy you a drink; we're friendly.

Almost 40 years ago my wife bought a 'black' doll for our daughter along with 'white' ones. This was to teach that we do not care about color but that character is what counts. A few years ago my wife bought a rainbow striped teddy bear because it was beautiful and to say that ALL of the teddy bears in her collection are special .

I wouldn't put a FSM sticker on my rig, or one of those little fishies with feet, just because I don't care for the potential interactions, though I enjoy it when I see other people with them on their rigs.
I imagine something like this happening, but clearly these guys went too far

I have no numbers stickers or flags. Guess I like to "sneak" up on people at will. I must be generic.
Seriously go with your instincts. It was very discouraging to hear that story of the two Dodger fans that beat up the Giant's fan because of his clothing. If it were me I would error on the side of caution. It's a rough world we live in, unfortunately.

We are all different, but the same.
Hi, this is quite a dilemma, dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. The only right answer is if you want a rainbow sticker on your vehicles do it. Maybe you should put a rainbow sticker in the middle of the window and a Sheriff's star on each side. Confuse the confused.

Hi, RellikJM; welcome to the Forums!
You have a beautiful new Airstream - and you get to decide what you want to do to it to make it uniquely yours. If it makes you smile to see a rainbow sticker on it, then go for it! If you want to reupholster the interior in neon plaid, well, it's your trailer! Just because it's not my cup of tea doesn't mean I get to have any say in your decorating scheme.
Since you have a rainbow on your car, I'm sure you're already aware of the comments that it will bring. It may start up a few conversations, and might keep one or two from happening at all. In that case, it's their loss.
Have a wonderful time camping in your new trailer (please post some pictures when you have the chance), and hopefully we'll get to meet you someday!
Sharon
