The FJ Cruiser has a SHORT wheelbase... less than an inch longer than my Subaru Legacy's wheelbase, 40 inches shorter than a double-cab Tundra. That's great for offroading, but not so great for towing if that's what you're considering it for.

I am with you on this, Myrtle. We keep both the dark and light Lexol and use it to clean and condition our leather car seats, boots, belts, and western saddles. It works great and keeps the leather supple and clean while preserving the color. Great stuff!

Living at high altitude, leather dries out very fast and this is the ticket.

How was the cruise? It's our second love....we've been on a bunch of cruises but have yet to take a Hawaiian one.

My partner's parents have a Taco and a previous-gen Tundra. Of those 2, I always prefer their Tundra. The Taco rides like a buckboard. It has the "PreRunner" package, that may be the reason. I'd definitely at least drive a Tundra before buying a Tacoma.

Lots of dealers are weird about letting you tow anything as a test, but that would be the acid test, since a good amount of tongue weight might fix the buckboard ride of the Taco....

Thanks for the info. I'm going from a SUV to a truck and might miss some of the extras on the SUV. I saw a 2008 V8 T Rex for sale in KC with low miles so I might check it out before the car show and before I decide I will test drive larger trucks but I'm not sure I want a huge truck. Thanks again.

Better late than never! We had Internet access on the cruise so I would check in from time to time. It was a great cruise! 14 days was longer than we normally do but what a difference 4 days can make! Welcome to the group.

I have a 2008 Tubdra and absolutely love it. It's the 5.6 litre v8 4x4 double cab and I tow our AS 23 fb se with it. We did a lot of Colorado passes last summer and it was a champ. You should try both before making your decision. Good luck with you purchase!

Ok, so do any of you with Tundras have problems with them eating tires? Ours has gone through two sets in 23k at $1000k a pop. Its the base V6 extra-cab, which is fine for our Globetrotter. The Tundra is a handful in the city, like driving a small house, but it does make me feel butch when I'm behind the wheel.

I replaced our first set of tires at 25k and the dealer told me I could have waited longer. I wanted to be safe given the towing we were doing. Just put a set of michelins on so I will becuriois to see how they do.
