Just got a new tv and can't wait to give it a proper 'road trip'

South FL would be great! I am ready to get away from the snow in GA.

Hi Ken,

Brad & Zell share some information regarding FOD in post #5 of this thread.

Friends of Dorothy - Airstream Forums

We have are fortunate to have many great members here that are able to share their combined interests, lifestyles, or hobbies along with all things Airstream. Many of our members form rallies, or get togethers to fellowship and enjoy RV'ing.

Regards,

Kevin

Seems to me that Liberal Kansas would be a likely place for the first FOD Rally,... After all it is where Dorothy's house and museum are located.

It is fairly central.. Not much else there though lots of cows lol

Interesting. Why the secret code? Why not just call it a homosexual rally?

FOD is about as much of a code as calling the republicans GOP members.

Because it would be an Airstream rally. I don't think I've ever called myself homosexual. I mostly use the term 'gay' (if my sexuality is really all that important to a discussion) or, simply, 'human being'.

BTW the person in your avatar was a FOD.

Hi, FCJoe;

The origin of FOD is from a time in the not-too-distant-past when gay folks feared for their lives all over this country. It was used as a way of letting other gays know: "I am gay, too", without letting others in the room from knowing. Judy Garland was an icon of the gay community in the '50s, hence it led to the "Friends of Dorothy" intro (Wizard of Oz...you get the idea). I suppose we use it today as a way of honoring our gay brothers and sisters who have been persecuted and, sometimes, murdered. It is no different from a member of a ham radio enthusiast referring to themselves as a "ham operator", or a University of Virginia alum a "wahoo". Thanks for your interest...

Sue
