We just returned from a week-long trip to Joshua Tree National Park and the Lower Colorado River (River Island State Park (AZ)...
While on the trip Greg and I discussed the rapidly rising gas prices and experienced the sticker shock of paying $4+/gal on trips for the first time. It was outrageous ... and it's supposed to get worse before it gets better.
As much as we hate to do it, we are going to have to cancel on our trip to the Hot Springs FOD Rally in June. We really hate to do this, but the reality of it is that it would be too expensive of a trip for us to make — just for the gas — since it's 1200+ miles one way for us to just get there...not to mention other expenses.... If we lived reasonably close, we'd be there for sure.
Again, we're sorry, but we are sure the rest of you will have a grand time of it. We will sure miss meeting everyone.

Awh, we're really bummed! We were looking forward to meeting you guys, and dreaming of new seat covers for the CCD! But we totally understand the pain at the pump. Gas is on the upper end of $4 here in Chicago, and passing $5 at some stations. Plus we have to run premium in the Lincoln to tow, so doing the math, hell you almost need to take out a loan to travel nowadays! We'll miss you, but we'll see you guys down the road!
Thanks everyone, for lamenting the fact that we will not be attending the FOD rally this June... Aside from being bummed by not being able to make the actual trip to new places, we are doubly sorry that we will not be meeting you all. We know it's going to be a wonderful, fun time ... and we hate to miss out on that. Woe is we...but we'll be there is spirit...

Waaaaaa! What yucky news... We were really looking forward to seeing you guys. But completely understand. THAT is a big nut! It's possible we will be headed back that way for a wedding in August... if so, we'll get to see you then! We'll have a drink in your honor!!!

LOL! We have changed our look a bit. FB is good but if you look at the Air FB it's pretty dead over there, mostly due to all the information you get here etc. as they say "if you build it they will come" so I say go for it! I'll subscribe to the page. have fun in AZ and were excited to see your new Bambi and hear how your travels are going.
Ok I just got back from the Air Midwest rally and I need to step it up a bit! This year we will hold a raffle and I've got some good gifts to bring and I'm also going to donate a men's Titanium Citizen Eco Drive watch. The watch will be linked into some contest TBD but I'm reaching out to Airstream dealers for some free swag and if any of you have some friends at a dealer I'd appreciate some help, Lynn has some gifts to donate as well and it doesn't have to be expensive or even Airstream related. Also Lynn thought T Shirts would be fun and she has a supplier that could make them for under $20 so if your interested in one please chime in and we could make sure we have the correct sizes etc. Also we will have two areas we could have our dinners, the club house or the covered pavilion so it will all depend on the weather but both look very cool! I will have the rally schedual on here sometime this week, let the countdown begin!

Arrivals and appetizer pot luck for late arrivals. If you come in late just stop by we will have plenty for you to eat

11 AM open house (there will be a prizes attached for this one)

7 PM Group photo and Cold food pot luck. Nothing hot.
