FOD Rallies and Meet ups

We have a couple of AS friends who live in the Seattle area and have toyed with the idea of doing a Pacific Coast Highway trip from San Diego to Seattle then com home via an inland route...it's a long trip and would take some planning, but something we really want to do with the Airstream. The Oregon coast looks so inviting...I swear it looks like there's a state park every 2 feet on the coast.

Scott & Cyle...do come on down to Arizona for some of that good vitamin D...we'll grab Louis & Sergio and some of the rest of the gang and have a fun campout! In fact, a bunch of us are going to "Pride in the Pines", Flagstaff, AZ's Pride event in June...that should be a memorable gathering...if anybody wants to join us let us know!

We've never been to any Airstream rally but we've managed to stumble in to a pride or two every summer...When is "Pride in the Pines"? Tom is off after memorial day and I'm mostly unemployed the first of june...if nothing else I think we're in for meeting you guys there and getting acquainted.

FOD Rally's and Meet ups

I'm curious to see if there is any interest in a FOD rally within 150 miles of San Francisco- we live 110 miles north. And, a sub-sub group of FOJ, Friends of Julia, people who like to cook, maybe a small rally centered around pot luck meals of nicely prepared local food?

Pride in the Pines, Flagstaff, AZ - June 18, 2011

"Pride in the Pines", Flagstaff, Arizona's Pride event is Saturday, June 18, 2011, and will be held in Wheeler Park, according to the website - Flagstaff Pride …it doesn't appear that the website is fully developed just yet. Admission is $15/person at the event, but it looks like they may have advanced tickets available on line for maybe slightly less (? that page was not complete). Wheeler Park is on N. Humphreys St (US 180 toward the Grand Canyon) between Aspen and Birch Avenues near downtown Flagstaff, 1 block north of the main drag. (Did I say "drag"?). We hope you can join us for a gay ol' time!

Greg and I have made our reservations at the Flagstaff KOA located at 5803 N. US Highway 89 which is east of downtown on the main drag…(there that "drag" thing is again)… The reservations line is (800) 562-3524. Their website is Flagstaff KOA | Camping in Arizona | KOA Campgrounds … I have attached a PDF of the KOA campground map… We are reserved for site #31. This is an area that has 20/30-amp service with full hookups and some that have water/electricity but no sewer…and not too far from the rest rooms, etc. I spoke to Seth…the other reservation person is Tamara… I told Seth that there are at least 8 rigs in our party (from the 4CU and a friend of the 4CU) so far and that number may increase or decrease by a few rigs depending… Everyone can call and make their own reservations… just tell them you are with the Airstream & Friends group Terry Rich called about. The cost for a full hookup site is $34 + tax for 2 people…additional people are extra and dogs are OK at no extra charge…and be sure to let them know if you have a KOA discount card. Our reservations are for arriving Thursday, 16 June and departing Monday, 20 June. I told Seth not everyone would be arriving or leaving on the same days.

I asked if they have a lot of Pride attendees at their KOA and he said, "Oh, yes! It's a great time." And they seem quite willing to accommodate us as best they can, and said they'd try to put as many of us together as they could…at least in the same area…but that it will depend largely on how soon you call to make reservations.

If you have other gay friends or gay-friendly straight folk who would like to join us, please let them know our plans and share this info so they'll have all the info…and it's not an Airstream-only gathering…so anyone interested can come and play.

Let me know if I left anything out. And let us know if/when you will be getting there… If you have any questions PM TBRich...

So far the following have signed up:
Louis & Sergio (LHall, 4CU)
Mark & Ron (Manor68, 4CU)
Michele & Carol (dsrtgrls, 4CU)
Barbara & Janis (barbara4rb, 4CU)
Deb & Loretta (not on the Forums)
Jim & Rod (Jimandrod, 4CU)
Mario (MarioM, 4CU)
Terry & Greg (TBRich, 4CU)

Happy Trails!

Count us IN for Flagstaff!

Hey gang I just made reservations for the KOA and we'll arrive Friday the 17th. We're near where you guys are...one street over on Zia...#9.

We look forward to getting acquainted and having some fun!

I had the Airstream out last week. I took in down to Inland RV for some stuff and really got the bug to hit the road.

See you all next month!

Mike

Time for an update, Gang:

We are now 10 rigs strong! And there is also a group from the Rainbow RV Club camping at the KOA. So this will be interesting!

The Pride in the Pines website is fully developed now. Tickets for the Pride event on Saturday are $15 at the gate and $10 on line in advance. There is a $1.75 service charge per ticket for buying on line, so that's a total of $11.75/person in advance on line. You can buy up to 5 tickets in one transaction. You have a choice of printing the tickets from a downloaded PDF file ... or you can have them waiting at the gate on a will call list.

There are some pre- and post-events happening as well, including a show featuring comedienne Suzanne Westerhoefer ... We have not seen her show, but she looks like a good time. That's at the Green Room in old town (downtown) Flagstaff (which is also the location for other events). You can also purchase advance tickets for Suzannes' show as well — $18 in advance, $25 at the door (they do not guarantee ticket availability at the door). Space is limited.

We are looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones!

Hi,

Anyone in the Northeast interested in a rally?

Would love to attend some of these rallies posted but can't spare the time. :-(

Best,
James

Hey, James... Put out there where you'd like to go and I'll bet you'll have some takers! A "build it and they will come" sort of thing.

I know it's a long way, but if you're ever out this way let us know — you're always welcome to join in.
