Yes Crisen, I agree. That's a great line, which I may try to use from time to time in the future. We picked up the big U-haul truck & full trailer yesterday. We 're bringing up a few things to my Sis' 32 acre Ranch, which will be our new "home. Base" of sorts. Things like my Husband's HUGE/HEAVY smoker-grill & my Jeep CJ-8.
Then we're off on a few specific destinations/events in Dallas, Tx.. Hot Springs, Ark.. Memphis, Tn & The Atlanta area. I just didn't realize that this retirement thing would be such HARD WORK!!

Congratulations to both of you! I've retired 3 times now (!), and will keep at it until the only income is from retirement sources. Last month I returned from FOUR solid weeks in my new Airstream. It was idyllic. No clear timeframe, and with a couple of minor exceptions, no required destinations. Just me and my basset hound. I ate ONE restaurant meal the entire four weeks....I saw Big Bend Natl Park. I spent 4 days in Sedona, I drove a total of 6,200 miles. The last hour on the road I had a very difficult time knowing I was ending this journey. So I am asking myself some of the same questions you guys did. Keep us posted on how it goes, and if you find you are in Greensboro, NC, give a shout.

Well, my Hubby informed me that I mis-spoke. We'll be passing near Memphis, but the function is in the Lebenon/Nashville area. My apologies. But I'm sure we'll do LOTS of chatting while we're all @ the F.O.D. Rally in Hot Springs!!

Congrats on becoming full timers! I bought an airstream last November and just couldn't get myself to put it away. So last month, I finally decided to give up the apartment in West Hollywood. I hadn't been there more than a handful of nights over these last months.

I highly recommend that you check out the various Airstream parks. They are great places to stop for extended stays, usually at low cost. You might even decide to join or buy into one as I did! It's nice to have a few places to use as home bases, and it sounds like your sisters place is one.

My basic yearly plan is to spend 3 or 4 months at the Texas Airstream Harbor (venturing out for rallies and club/other trips), a couple of months in SoCal, and a couple of months at my buddy's land in Spokane (where I am now). And then I'll fill in between with various trips here and there.

It's funny... a body in motion... Well I find that when I get going I like to keep going to different places. And I do get comfy when I stop and then get stressed about preparing to hit the road again. There are several days of transition before my body adapts to wanting to stay in motion or stop.

Full timing is great. My biggest stress in life now is that I want to be too many different places at once! I would have liked to have gone to the FOD rally and also the international but unfortunately had to be other places.

Thanx Ca-Tallguy!!

Actually after doing some research, we have joined several of what we feel are "necessary" groups:
•WBCCI
•Escapees
•Workamper
•Good Sam
Etc Etc. I'm sure I've missed a few, my Husband is really the one who keeps up w/all of that kind of stuff. And actually, we did buy into Ocean Canyon Properties. They're not AS specific, but they are a decent little network of campgrounds, spread out across several states. They've proven handy, as we've woven them into our travels from New Orleans to Denver, Austin & DC.
We are still learning & soaking up everything we can. We tend to be rather aggressive types, eager to research & learn. I want to start better utilizing the "Courtesy" parking that's provided by the WBCCI members who can accommodate fellow AS owners as they travel cross country.
If you're into Social Networking, please look me up on Facebook. Many of our friends follow our new "Full-time" retirement/adventures. Perhaps we could connect there & better get to know each other.
Safe Travels,
Marc Anthoni

Will do... And come visit us in Zavalla at the Airstream Harbor. I don't think we are too far out of the way fri mthemareas where it sounds like you spend time. We're on a reservoir and in a national forest. The only thing is we're out far in the country but that's one of the pros for some people and cons for others.

It is for WBCCI members only and the parking with full hook ups is cheap cheap cheap. If you are lucky enough to get our best spot (pull through with concrete pad) you will be right next door to my spot. I won't be back for a number of months, however.

2 Cowboys - You are an inspiration.

Hub and I are on the "5 year plan". Gradually selling things, but need to step it up. Fixing up the house to update it for sale. Getting on the road sooner rather than later sounds good.

It's been going GREAT!! My Husband & I are FINALLY settling into the AS. We started our journey in May. Of course we hauled around some things that we eventually realized we didn't need. But as of about a week ago, I think we reached the perfect balance/harmony.
Today we are wrapping up a month long stay up in Breckenridge, Colorado. Dave's Dad & Brother Jon live up here & Sr-Dave got us a FREE spot up @ Tiger Run Resort, 2 slips over from where he owns a Chalét. Next we spend the weekend in Denver, afterwards we head towards the Air Mid West AS Rally in Oklahoma. We'll wrap up October at the Workamper.com Rally in Arkansas.
After a brief trip back thru N.O. (former home), we head towards our first Workamping job:
Managing a Christmas Tree lot for "Hart-T-Trees" down in Coral Gables, Fla. from Thanksgiving thru Christmas Eve. It'll be a bit of work, but it should certainly pad our budget for a while.
Overall, we LUV it!! We have no regrets!!
Y'all can also follow our day-to-day adventures via Facebook. Simply look me up & mention/message that you're from Air Forums!!
Hugz,
Marc Anthoni-Paul
