No sign of any moisture at all. I, too would have preferred a horizontal opener, but this is the best I've found. There's been plenty of water on this Marinco, and no issues. Since the product is designed for boats, it has a strong spring, and a more than adequate high quality silicone-type seal. The outlet is on the GFCI circuit and if there'd been any water intrusion it would have tripped the GFCI. Hasn't happened.

This is the same plate that is manufactured by Pass & Seymour. The horizontal version is the WPH8. What Marinco sells is the vertical version WP8. If you Google these numbers, they are easily found online.

I think I'll buy a WPH8. They also manufacture versions for standard duplex receptacle as well as the Decors version (like a GFCI).

The WP8 and WPH8 are "dustproof", not watetproof. Per their own specifixations, they do not meet the NEC requirements for sealing again water intrusion.

Agreed. I'm basing my try in BAB's comments above. There is no seal on the plastic door that Airstream currently uses. I also intend to use a spec grade Hubbell illuminated face outlet. It's instant verification that it is live. The GFCI protection is in the breaker.

I'll report back when the cover arrives.

BAB, Zybane or others: we are going to replace our skylights with Maxims. Do you recommend installing them ourselves, or is this best left to our dealer (Foley)?

I did them myself. I have the detail for the two skylights if you'd like to save yourself the work of getting up on the roof and measuring the openings. I've sent this to a flock of '15-'16 Classic owners. You will have to do the color selection (window tints) and of the aluminum frame -- white or aluminum (most of us have had the white powder coat...but your choice.)

Babs keep the information on the skylights I want to replace mine but with all the other problems I am having I am going to wait. Do you still have the old cover for the electrical power cord from your trailer? Would love to buy it to match both covers on mine. Zipdee has sent me another control unit for the awning in hopes that this will fix my ongoing problem. They have redesigned it again and the new update looks good. Will keep you all updated. Living in the middle of the Yellowstone park makes it hard to fix things. 100 miles to a hardware store and have to say for full time they are not the best for 4 season living. O well we will see what Yuma weather does to the home in 2 months

Zybane: pls PM me with your email address and I'll send you the document.

Bob: I have the old cover somewhere. I'll save it for you.

Got the Tarheel motorized antenna mast installed with the Wifi Ranger and Weboost LTE antenna all setup. Routed everything to the Blu-ray player area via the fridge vent. Took about eight hours, fun project. I can even see this baby rise and lower through the center skylight.

Ramblings about 2016 Classic...

How noisy is the Tarheel lift and lay when its operating up or down? Irritating or just 'can hear it'. I'm working on installing mine, but I suspect my HF ham antenna is a bit heavier....its been too hot around here to touch the AS, much less crawl on the roof....😩

Slick looking job, by the way!

It's not too noisy. I can hear it inside but it's just a low hum as it goes up and down, nothing I'd ever be concerned about.

Definitely a shade only job up on the roof!

Cool. If it's too noisy, wife would get grumpy. Thanks for the feedback.

It only takes around seven seconds to raise and lower. Your wife must get grumpy pretty quick.

Ramblings about 2016 Classic...

For some reason, she's very sensitive to some noises, especially sudden ones. Buzzes, sudden beeps, or alarms on phones startle her badly. Me, I just don't startle that much unless it's gunfire at close range😀

Anyone else toss those black plastic tray covers out of the rear storage compartment? They didn't seem to fit well and mine started to warp from the weight. Seemed pretty crappy.

Mine are still there.
I put things I don't use often under them.
When I occasionally need something from under the covers, I have to completely empty the storage compartment to get those covers off to get what's under them.
That's about as bad an idea as the 2 Dometic a/c units tied to the crappy CCC II thermostat through one motherboard in the front unit...

Unless one gets a 5th wheel or SOB storage will always be a challenge with an Airstream.
