We will let my wife's two daughters in Long Beech tell us how "wonderful" the mattress effect of the hide a bed is on our first "real" trip next Monday.

Since I have helped remove and replace that sofa during the solar system installation, I can report there is a lot of metal providing support inside the sofa and lots of bolts into the floor to hold it in place. When extended flat, it is not a trampoline, but regular sleeping actives would not cause a failure.

One does not usually want their guest beds too comfortable. That encourages the axiom my mother used to be fulfilled - "fish and guests smell after three days" and they move onwards.... Kids don't seem to care.

Switz, thanks for that information - good to know!

So will your wife's 2 daughters be sleeping up/down or across the sofa?

I look forward to hearing how they liked sleeping on the sofa. Thanks.

By the way - so true about guests and fish. 3 days max!

Both daughters are past 30 and trim, so they will tell us what is comfortable. Then we will know.

We spent only one night locally in the unit to date to find the initial issues - like having a hole in the shower wall develop over a holiday (meaning cavity) in the fiberglas when applying the wax for the fiberglass using a cloth rag.....And a water leak under the water heater that was not resolved and crossed ducting from the heater preventing air flow to the rear of the trailer, etc.

So this trip starting Monday will be the real first travel to a destination for us with this unit.

So okay, isn't everybody entitled to one really stupid question? If so, this is mine.

The sofa bed still looks uncomfortable, but not as bad as I thought. I'll have to check it out again next time we're out.

Thanks for letting me talk to myself!

No, your first assumption is correct. You sleep with head and feet to the sides/armrests. If you try sleeping with your head to the big window/front of the trailer your feet/legs hang over the edge
from the knees down. It isn't deep
enough to sleep on it this way. The gap where the back cushion meets the bottom cushion is not uncomfortable. I just sleep in the gap if I have the couch pulled out. Most of the time I don't convert the sofa to a bed. I just sleep on the couch as a couch. As far as the overhang when the couch is converted to a bed goes, it is very sturdy and feels very substantial. I still get closer to the wall to know my weight is on the steel base, not on the cantilevered part.

Only one of the two daughters spent the night on the sofa bed. Was not the best she had slept on, but the results from too much adult beverages enabled sleep. So not an outstanding recommendation rating. However, the price was right!

Thank you for the update, I appreciate it.

I ended up postponing my trip with my parents, so we're still looking for feedback. I haven't been back to the trailer since the day I wrote my original post.

So how did your daughter sleep? armrest to armrest? According to m.hony, this is the correct way to sleep on the sofa.

Unless you want your feet dangling off the end from the knees...
