Question about city water hookup

In our 2013 Classic, we're finding the hookup to the city water is difficult to reach, it's almost at ground level. You have to really bend down and reach to get to the opening.

Are we the only ones having problems with this? What do you do? What is your solution? I'm sure there's an easier way to hook up the city water. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes, they are very low and difficult to get to, so I put a quick disconnect fitting on it and on the end of the hose I use. That way at least I don't have to spend so much time down there on one knee tightening the hose fitting every time I hook up.

Great suggestion! We did put one on the end of the hose, but never thought about putting one on the hookup itself. We'll give that a try. Thank you!

But I still say it's a lousy place to put a water hookup!

Thanks again.

We use the quick connects for all of our plumbing connections and have for years. We also have run into the really low city water faucets on many occasions. About two years ago we started use a short white hose to come from the city water faucet to our splitter. We have found that this makes the low connection easier to deal with.

About the difficulty connecting the hose to the fitting in the water compartment, other friends of mine leave a 1' hose attached to the trailer and find connecting the longer hose to that just as easy.

I have a 90 degree elbow attached to the city water connection. I don't think it necessarily makes it any easier to connect. There is a short length of hose connected to the black water flush. I can route the city water and the black water flush through the bottom of the compartment and close the compartment cover with the 90 degree elbow attached. I have to kneel in the same general vicinity to hook up to the sewer connection. I lay out all the hoses and kneel down once to make all the connections. The quick disconnect might be a good idea. Are there quick disconnects for the sewer hose, too?

Not that I know of, but wish there were.

Quick Connect - Problem Solved

Spent a few dollars on the 'quick connect' parts at a hardware store. Now can connect/disconnect in a split second without having to kneel down and wrestle with the standard hose connection like before. Appreciate this method the most when its cold, dark or buggy out.

Moosetags. Newbie question. I see you have a y connector for city water. One to city water hook up and the other to ?? Black water tank flush?? My other question is the tank dump hose. Seeing the diameter is that just for grey tank?? So much to learn, so little time.

The 'Y' splitter on the city water supply line on my set-up is used to supply the city water inlet on the Airstream. The additional hose is used to supply my Sewer Solution sewer dump system. The dump hose that you see in the photo is part of the Sewer Solution. It is used to dump both the gray and black water. The Sewer Solution macerates the black tank's contents and drains through the much smaller hose.
