Oh our choice - 2012

We were looking at airstreams last year and of course now are ready to buy one. So we went out yesterday to see the closest dealer ; Greensburg, PA.
The one that fit our budget is a 27ft classic ; its a 2012 limited model. No, we didn't buy yet, but want to do a little research first.
The reason for an airstream is that they are fab. We have had a 29ft flagstaff and a 34ft coachman 5th wheeler.

Also, as my husband works about 80 miles away, we may leave the camper in a seasonal site and he could stay a night or two to cut down on his 800 mile drive per week.

Our teens aren't thrilled as they will need to sleep on the couch and dinette ; oh well, they don't have to rough it much.

But its gorgeous. Not loving the price tag (68K) but oh so so tempting.
Anyone had any downsides to these models?

Good for you. Go for a Classic. We understand your position on price and quality. We couldn't afford a new one and found our perfect Classic from a private listing. You can afford an Airstream and you'll love it.

I prefer the 30 and 31 floor plans, but get what you can afford and go camping...

During our search we looked at units on that lot. We were not able to look at a 27or 28 because they were under going some pannel replacements due to being hit by snow from the the road being plowed. The unit you are looking may not be one of them but you might want to ask. If I remember that dealership is on a main road subject to being sprayed (salt) by passing traffic. Would check her out carefully before buying. It could be just fine. Or something to use in negotiating a better price. But something to look at before you buy. Good luck in your search. Having an Airsteam any airstream is great you'll love. The kids will get over it. Just tell them its part of their inheritance.

oh our choice

We have a 2007 27fb classic and love it. The interior feels warmer than the Flying clouds and the window coverings keep light out better and also give the interior a warm feeling. Some people don't like the more traditional feel but my wife feels more comfortable in the classic. We looked at at Flying cloud 25 but didn't like the bed configuration. In the classic it is the little touches that make the difference.

Good luck with your choice. You can find slightly older years for much less money. What is nice about the classic is the interiors stay pretty much the same.

I like how the Classic feels more like home or like your grandparents trailer.
I like all the solid wood cabinetry.
I know I have the best trailer for me.

We have the 2012 27FB classic and love it. We just got back from a 6 week trip to Arizona and were extremely comfortable. I think floor plan is a matter of taste and needs but for us the windows on both ends work out so well.
The classic fits our need for a little warmer feel with the Hickory. We did have a table crack but Airstream replaced no questions.

Good luck,
Mike

Buy it! We have a 25' FB International, and I kick myself every day for not getting the 27 and classic trim, primarily due to bed configuration. For a downside to the 27, and this is the only reason I bought a 25 vs longer, a 25 will get you in a few parks a 27 won't. Of course a 23 will get you in places a 25 won't and backpack will get you places no trailer can go. So it all really depends on how you plan to use it and where you want to camp. Since you already own longer trailers I'm guessing the 27 will be just fine for your use.

We love our 2007 27fb Classic! Only thing is when watching TV (which we never visualized ourselves doing) its a little awkward sitting at the dinette. Go for it!

My wife and I love the hickory wood in the newer classics and the front bedroom in the 27 footer. Being a 2012 it will last long after your teens move on.

Did you buy the 27fb classic from Airstream of Western Pa?
