Exterior Shower Door Problems

I arrived at my campground after a couple of hours on the road and I found that the door for the exterior shower had opened up, the hose had fallen out and broken off.

Oddly enough, this happened to me two years ago. I just put up with it until I had some repairs done. I just got my 'Stream back about three weeks ago.

The lock was still set when I got out to examine the damage. It seems to me that the sun had softened the plastic on the door.

Has anyone ever had this problem before? If so, what is the solution - other than just not using the shower?

yes i have

az sun hits that side of trailer. it warped the door enough to allow the leading edge to catch enough air when traveling to force the door open while stil locked as the door is quite flexible. went to ace and installed 4 screen clips to keep the lid sealed. the test will be trip to san diego in july.

They make a stainless exterior assembly that should eliminate that problem. Kinda pricey, though. Try Airstream Supply.

Which year are we talking about? I guess there really should be two sections, 2011-2014 and 2015+ as those have stainless doors.

Our painted plastic parts were not holding up well in the sun, furnace and water heater doors looking shabby, so we went ahead and put on the complete set of stainless steel upgrades. Expensive but we're glad the plastic is gone.
