Classic Question - Room for 3 adults and 2 kids?

After years of wanting, we are finally ready to jump in and purchase our first Airstream. Have lurked around the forums as well for years and have gained respect for the level of knowledge and willingness to share. Until the 2015 Classic came out, we planned to get a 27FB Serenity; however, the new Classic model really appeals to us. We have LOTS of grandkids (12) and will be taking some of them (only one or two at at time; not interested in the bunk models), as well as my lovely MIL, with us from time to time. Looking for feedback on how comfortable the sofa would be for a person to sleep on. Also, if we go to the Mother Ship at Jackson, will there typically be a new Classic we could see?

Also, if we get the twin bed model, wonder whether those beds also have the electric incline mattress function as does the queen bed? I am 6'2" and worry that the queen will be too short, but we read in bed a good bit and like the incline option.

Any other input for us?

Will be purchasing a new TV as well, but waiting on that decision until we decide on the trailer and know there is a world of opinions on choice in other threads.

On your twin bed/incline question, I've seen pictures of the Classic in twin configuration on the Colonial Airstream website and it does show them with the incline feature. I assume this is standard. Joe

Welcome, if you are 6'2" you may want to stay with the queen, your feet could hang over. I am 5'9" and we have the twins and I take up the whole length of the bed, the foot of the bed is against a cabinet and the other is rounded. As for seeing a new classic, Jackson Center might be your best bet, but call before you go. That was where I first saw the 2015 Classic.

I have a 30' Classic. I sleep on the sofa and am fine with it. My wife finds it uncomfortable because the support it provides is somewhat uneven. We have found that with some extra padding it works out OK for both of us.

I have the twins. Mine do not incline but maybe the newer ones do. We read in bed often, and find between pillows and the support of the rear wall it is quite comfortable to do.

New classic twins are 75" long. I'm 6'4" and the normal queen is to short. The heads on the 2015 and later twins do have the the power tilt. You have the sofa with two recliners, kids would sleep fine and pretty quick to drop the dinette table to make another spot.

Not sure on the 2015 Classic, but the 2013 Classic can easily sleep 6- 2 in the queen bed + 2 on the converted dinette + 2 on the jack knife sofa = 6 sleepyheads.
The 2015 should easily sleep 5- 2 in the queen bed (or twins) + 2 on the converted dinette (the table motors up and down electrically) + 1 on the sofa (it has recliners on both ends, so it may not make a double bed) = 5 sleepyheads.

Previously owned a Classic with twin beds, I am 6'4", and had to sleep on the sofa if I wanted to stretch out. We now have a Classic with the queen, my feet overhang slightly, however, I can now sleep comfortably.

The question of how much room is enough is always a judgment call. My wife and I have a vintage 25' TW LY with full bed midship and full size pull-out in the front. Our two grandkids camp with us quite often and the space is adequate for us. We spend most days outside and don't spend a lot of time indoors except for sleeping. Having more space would be nice but I really like the size and towing economy of the 25 so I wouldn't trade for a larger one. I think our trailer is perfect for two who like to cover lots of miles and don't stay in any one place more than a few days.

Bring on the grandkids! We have a classic 31 without the dinette and we do fine with two of them on the fold down couch and the golden on the floor. Other than that I would not ask any large adult to sleep om the couch without lots of extra padding and a good stiff drink, ot two!
Enjoy the Classic and go for it!
Pete

Let me know

The power dinette table is on the '16, not the '15.

I have the '15 with the queen configuration. Haven't had anyone sleep on the "turn the dinette into a bed" or sofa yet. I'm guessing that the Villa furniture would be more comfortable than the made at the factory furniture as the quality of the foam is substantially better.

I think the 15-16 Classic would work fine for 5.

If it isn't power, how does it go up and down? Like a barber's chair?

To raise and lower you have to reach under and flip out two clamps.
