Thanks to everyone concerning the hitch height. After looking at the new Classic and doing some thinking, I have a concern about the bedroom. First of all they decided to delete the shirt closets, which I actually like, that is wasted space anyway, so why not have a little more storage? After deleting the closets they then install wrap-around windows, which do give it a more open feel. However the wrap-around windows are not tinted as dark as the other windows for some reason, therefore I see a potential problem with solar heating as well as privacy. All of the other windows on the Classic are covered with a awning. I think that Airstream should either offer the shirt closets as a option or at least tint the wrap windows as dark as the other bedroom windows!

I'll be seeing some of these horrific units at canopener - I may suggest they not let these folks into the rally - too much an eye sore

After using a 27 FB this summer with nightstands this summer after years of using units with shirt closets I can say we really liked the extra elbow room in the bedroom. If you like the extra space as well you can install a 3 piece stone guard on the rear for extra shade.

Im 13 days into a 30 day trip with my new Classic, I too was concerned about storage but we have plenty and absolutely love the panoramic windows in the bedroom. Yes Pharm, this horrific unit will be at Canopener, please come and visit us. Hope your kids don't get scared with the huge HUMP in the roof.

I agree with you Andrew, we have the 27 FB Eddie Bauer and one reason we liked it was because of the night stands instead of the shirt closet. We don't feel so closed in, the curtains provide plenty of privacy and darkness if we choose to sleep in and the closets are roomy enough that we have not had a problem - even with an extended trip of 4 weeks - and we both bring along enough clothes for an army. I love the open feeling in the bedroom!

To each their own...My eyes are closed when I'm back there so panos would be wasted on me....and I really need the storage. Different strokes....

When they start accepting Classic orders again I will be happy to order you one with shirt closets and no panoramics. Andy

Thanks! but I'm afraid I'd need to have a 40% discount to even be in the game! AS has priced me "out of class". I'll be using whats I has for the duration.

What...the 40% discount? Ok, if you're that easy, how about 50%?

2015 Classic - Owners Thread

No, I meant keeping your current one there is nothing wrong with.
I guess I shouldn't do this from the phone

If you are referring to my post, I don't think I ever used the terms "horrific or eye sore!" If I felt that way I would not be stupid enough to spend 130K on such a unit. I was expressing something that I would like to have the option to change. I never said that they should build every classic the way that I want, only mine! As for people liking the open space in the front bedrooms there is a huge difference in that they have a solar rock guard in the 27FB. Not available in the rear bedroom. Airstream is simply saving money by using the same light tinted wrap-around windows in the rear as they do in the front. The center bedroom window in the Classic is dark tinted just as are the side windows and they all have awnings to boot. Yet the rear wrap-arounds are a lighter tint. Now that just don't make a lot of sence to me? All I want is the option of matching windows in the bedroom or the option to replace the two odd-balls with shirt closets. Really a very simple request. But then I am a simple man!
