The 16" tires make the hitch height 1/2" higher.

The factory standard Goodyear ST225/75R15D tires are 28.3" in diameter while the optional Michelin LT225/75R16/E LTX M/S2 tires are 29.2" in diameter per their respective web sites. Thus, to be precise, one should expect the axle(s) to be 0.45" higher off the ground and thus the hitch would also be higher by that amount.

After all the "adjusting" on the truck air bag suspension and it's lower and stronger hitch assembly and the ProPride hitch, we ended up with under a " nose low installation with the trailer ready for camping on the 16" tires and wheels.

Sean at ProPride was a big help in getting the ProPride setup properly.

Thanks for the info, however I am looking for the actual hitch height as I don't have any info on last years height either. This will be my first Airstream and no one has been able to tell me the actual height on the 2015 Classic?

My 2007 is an actual 18.75" to top of coupler with 16" Michelin setup and gear in trailer.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info Rich. So you have already changed to the 16" LT tires. Can you tell any difference and how do you like them? What do you do when you are both handsome and handy?

"What do you do when you are both handsome and handy?" - I wouldn't know.

I put on 16" Michelins in late 2011. I like them fine. They wear well and provide a great ride. I have Centramatics as well. I have about 12,000 miles on them.

And you'll never be admitted to the "'Possum Lodge"! Only handy, ugly men allowed there.

For you folks that have the 2015 Classics on order & if this recliner / inverter issue is of concern to you I would suggest that you be proactive with your dealer. Once you take delivery I think that may be the end of it. I have not thrown in the towel yet but you will have more leverage if you deal with it before hand. Good luck.

2015 Classic - Owners Thread

My wife and I met up with Ron today and had a good look at his new Classic. Overhyped POS....the recliners in the front are too comfortable and barely good enough for a sleeping dog. Also, the power function is too slow. The finishes are boring ...suede/Corion...come on AS. ...and the humps!

Beautiful! Congrats again. Enjoy.

I also met Ron (briefly) today while I was picking up some brackets for the Hensley. Did not see the new Classic. Ron was in the torture chamber where Monica was working on his wallet. Another time I hope. Missed cory_ can. The place was too busy. Had to go. Jim

cory_can!!! You about gave me heart failure!! I've been counting my pennies - actually it's going to take a whole lot more than pennies - and waiting until I can call the dealership and say - order our new Classic!! Just got through washing our Eddie Bauer and she sure cleaned up nicely.

Hitch height after a call to the factory is 18 3.4 inches. One inch higher than trailers with 15 inch wheels, or at least that's what's in the specs from last year.
