If you are referring to my post, I don't think I ever used the terms "horrific or eye sore!" If I felt that way I would not be stupid enough to spend 130K on such a unit. I was expressing something that I would like to have the option to change. I never said that they should build every classic the way that I want, only mine! As for people liking the open space in the front bedrooms there is a huge difference in that they have a solar rock guard in the 27FB. Not available in the rear bedroom. Airstream is simply saving money by using the same light tinted wrap-around windows in the rear as they do in the front. The center bedroom window in the Classic is dark tinted just as are the side windows and they all have awnings to boot. Yet the rear wrap-arounds are a lighter tint. Now that just don't make a lot of sence to me? All I want is the option of matching windows in the bedroom or the option to replace the two odd-balls with shirt closets. Really a very simple request. But then I am a simple man!

I have actually already thought about that. Would'nt having a rear window awning already installed present a problem with installing a rear stone guard? You know, like awning rails and pre-existing holes.

I doubt seriously that you have been in any sunny days above 85 degrees? You may have a different take after you have spent some 100+ degree days in you new classic. I hope not.

If you're ordering one you just ask to have the rear awning left off. There won't be a credit for it but no holes either. Another option is you can get an auto glass guy to tint the windows darker

Andrew, Why has Airstream stopped accepting Classic orders? Are you sure that you can get Airstream to build one this way, and when? Thanks for your time.

The old Classic sold at a rate of 2 per week. They told suppliers to prepare for 4 a week of the new one. Orders were coming in at double that rate. Airstream is allowing time for the suppliers to tool up and would guess for the new plant to be built.

I think it is a good decision. Something that never would have happened in the past.

Last time I checked, my production date had moved from mid-December to late December. I can imagine that deciding to not accept any more orders was a VERY tough call. If they had planned on producing 4 a week and have demand for 8, that had to have been a surprise. As I understand it, the cabinetry is not done at the plant. And, there is a LOT of cabinetry in this trailer. To blow the whistle and call a "time out" on additional orders of a $120K trailer has a pretty serious financial impact on both the factory and dealers who are business to say "yes" to an order rather than "no" -- . At the same time, it also indicates a planning problem on the front end.

I can speak from an automotive perspective. It is a tough call from a customer relations standpoint. But if the plant model year run is filled with the order bank.....you can't obviously, build any more current model year units. "Sold out" is a blessing and a bane!

For example, GM is sold out of full size G vans (Express/Savanna) until 2016 model year. The plant is adding a third shift (also a tough call....what happens if demand tapers off?) but it really won't help significantly until the 2016 model year starts.

Bottom line, there's money being left on the table for someone else, to some extent.

The planning problem sometimes can be anticipated and sometimes not. Who would think that Classic demand would be 4 times the old demand. Is that just because it is new and pretty different....or does that volume have staying power? Build a plant on a hunch?

Sometimes the market behaves contrary to all the studies and clinics you can possibly digest.

It kind of throws a wrench into our full timing plans. We had hoped to be on the road by next April. If there isn't a 2015 Classic on any dealer lots come January, we will have to rethink our timing.

I believe dealer stock orders are still in the schedule. At least my dealer acquaintance was trying to get me to take one of his, due in January.

Reminds me a long time ago when Epson announced the first 24 pin dot matrix printer. US Epson managers did their forecast. Japan said they must be crazy and cut it by a huge amount. When sales started selling they were out of stock in the first 60 days.

Page, the dealer in Denver has 1 on the lot and another due this week. Don't think that they are sold.

Say it isn't true, Shortage on new 2015 Classic's. I'm not surprised, We are really impressed with this trailer. Both Ducted Air and the new classic design, best improvements Airstream has made in 25 years. I'm buying more Thor stock.

We are in South Carolina. Our new Airstream dealer here in SC supposedly has one on order and Colonial has five on Order. I'm just guessing that those will be spoken for when we are ready to buy in January.

Here are some pics of my new Classic picked up on Saturday. Super happy with it. Great job by CanAm for preparing the solar inverter batteries.
