Maybe Airstream should take each trailer out and camp in them for a night before signing off. Do they really test all the systems? Do they run water through all the faucets. Do they fill the waste tanks to confirm the monitor system is operational? Of course not. They rely on the dealers. The dealers won't PDI a trailer until someone buys it. That is why so many batteries fail for customers because they sit on the lot and discharge several times before the customer takes delivery. The dealer should have the Airstream ready for the customer with all systems working so they can demo. If they have to winterize the trailer after the customer orientation then AS should pay the dealer to do that.

I worked at a car dealer in my youth checking in new cars. I inspected for damage when they rolled off the truck. Any damage found was repaired and the car was sent to the PDI mechanic who performed all the system checks and drove the car. Then the car was sent to detail and put on the lot. We still had battery failures if they sat on the lot too long.

While AS can do better so can the dealers with AS support.

AS.... Quality.... really?

Perhaps it is this....
There is some serious need for real improvement. It appears they use the "microsoft" model.. sell, fix for a fee, when the 'customer' finds it's way back to bother us.... enough.

Nah... surely not....

Once you get over the 'birthing pangs' you will have a great trailer.. probably.

AS Quality

Our first AS was a 27' 2013 FC FB. Aside from a handful of very minor issues, which were addressed by the dealer, we had trouble free travels with that trailer.
We bought a new 30' 2015 FC Bunk, and while we haven't taken any trips in it yet, Feb. 4 will be the first, it is in to the dealer for the (again) minor problems we noticed after getting it home.
I really think an AS owners experience goes hand in hand with the customer service offered by the dealer.
Having dealt with our dealer, Airstream Adventures Northwest, I have full confidence any issues that might arise will be handled promptly and correctly.
I expect to have a trouble free year of traveling coming up.
