Why is 27FB a 28'?
Curiosity has the best of me. I'm puzzled as to the the27 is actually 28' in length and the 28 FC is less by an entire inch?

Probably because the 28 was around first, and when they introduced the 27 it would be confusing to call it 28 as well.
Our 20 was actually near 22, but they already had a 22.
Our 25 is one inch short of 26, but 25 has been a top seller for years.
The 26U is near 27, but . . .

For the same reason the 25' is 25' 11", the 20' is 20' 10' and the 22' Sport is 21' 8".

We were such saps, easily confused by the misleading model names.
"Wow, this 27' trailer is just as spacious as the 28' trailer. How did they do that? Anyway, it'll be easier to tow and park, so we'll take the 27-footer."
We still love our 27FB, but *now* we know it's even longer than the 28. <sigh>

Maybe the real reason is that no one has a tape measure in Jackson Center, so, "Hey Bud, how long is that thang?" "Looks 27' to me Joe Bob" "27' it is then".

All is not lost. A 23D is 23'. However a 23FB is 23' 9".

Since I'm from Southern Ohio I'm going to support the no tape measure theory.

"The facts mam. Only the facts" I spoke to the Airstream rep at the recent FL Airstream rally in the Keys to ask this question. They work on the layout to put in the features they desire and then still call it the model, or length, they are working on.

I think it is simply model number designations.
The Classic 31 and Classic 30 of a couple of years ago were exactly the same length.
Classic 31 was the model designation for the side bath model.
Classic 30 was the model designation for the walk through bath model.
Both are 31' 11" I think.

The one on the lot is--
Wait for it--
You're gonna love this--
27'3" bumper to ball...
I think the literature we have was provided at the same time as the short 26.

Why is the 28 shorter than the 27?
A couple of years back the tour guide a J.C. couldn't give me an answer.
