Which Satellite TV Antenna for Our FC 27FB

We want to add the Winegard Trav'ler Dish Satellite TV antenna (45 lbs) to our 2014 FC 27FB and the dealer where we purchased the TT says it's too heavy for the roof and recommends the Roadtrip Mission stationary antenna instead. Airstream customer relations says there is no problem putting the Trav'ler on the the roof. Who's right? Are there any other FC 27FB owners who have installed the Trav'ler antenna? If so, where did you place it on the roof? And are there any Mission antenna users who would care to comment on your experience with the antenna and its program choices?

Thanks
Rick

I won't comment on the roof installation from a mechanical stand point. I will say if you install on the roof you will see a significant reduction in the usefulness of the antenna. Satellite signals are line of sight and ANYTHING between you and the satellite will cut down or completely shut off the signal.

Think about where you camp before you buy.

Unless you are getting the Winegard beacause you want DirecTV HD Howie is spot on about line of sight. The portable Winegard X11 package with DISH works well and I have been able to move it to shoot though open spaces in trees.

If DirecTV is the issue then the Travelr is about the only option other than a stationary dish you point manually.

We subscribe to Dish at home, which is why we want to stay with Dish. As for a roof mount, I don't want the hassle and worry of setting up a portable antenna and then worrying about whether it will get stolen. It seems to me that if you don't have a view of the sky with the roof-mounted unit it would be easy to move to another site that does. But what I'm most interested to learn, and can't seem to find anything written in the Air Forum pages, is how does a one-satellite-at-a-time antenna, like the Mission and others, work when changing channels? Would my programming choices suffer with only one satellite at a time available?

I have the traveler mounted on my roof on my 25 footer Flying Cloud. I just did not want to deal with the setup. The traveler is all automatic. Yes, on occassion no reception due to trees. Not really a lot out there worth watching so if I miss a night or two of TV no big deal.
