Where in the world can I SEE a 30' Flying Cloud BUNK?!

So we're looking at getting our first RV and LOVE the Airstreams. We live in Dallas and the local dealers have about every model except the Flying Cloud BUNK--the exact one we think we'll like best for our family's needs.

Of course, the dealers say we can order one but we want to SEE it first to make sure it'll actually work for us. How can we do this? Are there any gatherings/RV shows/etc where one might show up around Dallas??

(We found both the Tarrant County RV Show in January and the Dallas RV Supersale in February, but both have ONE Airstream dealer showing up that we can tell--and we've been to their lot already.... Anything we're missing...?)

Hi from AZ. . . go to the Airstream site, peruse dealers in your area & call them about availability. Are you looking for a new one or used one ? Many dealers list on 'RVTrader.com' as well..........good luck, Craig

Been to RVTrader...best we can tell there's only one authorized dealer in our area. If we drive a couple hours we can hit another, but we were thinking since we're in a huge city like D/FW surely there's more close to home.

We would love to find a used one as best I can tell we can get one about 5 years old for about 25-40% off new.

Well, there you go. So there's one dealer in the entire Metroplex. Next nearest is a couple hours away, next is a couple hours past that.

Any other ways I might see one? Rallys, etc?

FC 30 Bunk

There are several good YouTube walk throughs. Here is one from The Airstream Store in Tuscon AZ.

Go to YouTube and search for Airstream Bunk.

Actually, that's exactly what made us think we'd like the bunk best. There are some great videos on YouTube. We just really wanted to see one in person as sometimes that changes your thoughts, you know?

Colonial has one. Yes, its New Jersey. But that where we bought ours, and we are from Florida. Its worth it.

Wherever you purchase consider warranty and service. Are you prepared to buy across country and then make that journey for warranty work ? For major work I would make the journey to Jackson Center. For nit pick minor warranty work and you can plan on having some it is nice to have a qualified 5-Rivet certified dealer close by. You might end up spending a lot more than the few dollars saved by a long distance purchase.

* In case someone has still not heard about it the new 5-Rivet Program is a certification program for all aspects of Airstream authorized dealerships.

Drive down to Montgomery and see ours. Just an hour north of Houston! It's a Safari, which is the same trim. It's a 2005, they made the 30' bunk in 05 & 06. Not another til 2014 (I think... maybe 2015). We bought ours a couple weeks ago, she needs some WORK! For. Sure. We knew it was the only option for us since us and our two goats would all have a dedicated bed. Goats are the two-legged kind. Lol. They're 9 & 10. Perfect size for us. The new ones are really nice, but they are quite an investment... good luck and holler at us if you ever get down this way! We can do a 2-trailer Texas mini rally half way when y'all get one and get some others on board, too!

Dave

Camper Clinic in Buda currently has 2! We just drove 6 hours to go view it in person because they seem to be the ONLY dealer in TX to have the bunk on their lot.

We aren't buying from Camper Clinic but it was nice to go through everything and feel how it worked for our family of 4. Unless they already have it earmarked for somebody, Vogt has a bunk coming in next week.

Ah! Good to know. Vogt is only about 20 minutes away from us. I'll contact them and see if I can see that one...

I chose my trailer by internet pictures.
I had walked through a Classic on Colonial's lot 4 years prior and remembered that I liked the Classic interior best.
I walked through Pharmgeek's 30' bunk on the dealer's lot before he was able to pick it up and sent him pictures of his own trailer...

Vogt RV in Fort Worth ,Texas has tons.
They specialize in air streams. We bought our Flying Cloud 27 FB a few months ago and have been extremely pleased. They are great to work with and had great prices.

We owned a 2005 30BH for eight years and really enjoyed it, but changed to a (2015) 27FB two seasons ago, when we didn’t always need sleeping space for five anymore after the kids grew up.

The 30BH was great for us at the time because we were traveling with three teenage children. It’s the only Airstream with three separate sleeping areas.
The three separate areas also make it feel more closed off and crowded than some other models. There is a lot of equipment in the 30BH.

There are a few features that I wanted in my new camper that were not available in the 30BH. Panoramic windows front and back, Vista View Windows, a feeling of space with an open view front to back. We also opted for twin beds to provide more sleeping space, dressing space and the option to use it for “guys” weekends.

I think the new model is also an improvement over the one we had: Hier Windows replaced with real Airstream windows, bare aluminum interior instead of a padded ceiling and mouse fur walls, swapping the dinette and couch location and shrinking the kitchen a bit and quiet stream air conditioning.

The 30BH was great for us and will be great for many others. Needs change over time so I wanted to describe the reasons we eventually decided to change floor plans. I agree, being able to get inside the unit you plan to buy is a good idea.

I've been there--it's not far from our house. They have a TON of Airstreams. But NO bunks, and apparently aren't getting any in in the foreseeable future. I just talked to them yesterday and they say there's still none on the horizon

Just an FYI, when I had to replace a dented exterior panel I was planning on heading to Jackson Center, a 1300 or so mile journey. I called to set up the appointment and the gentleman asked where I was calling from. He highly suggested that I consider JD Sanders in north FL (in my state) as there was a rivet specialist there with over 30 years experience on Airstreams. It worked out but the point that servicing distance and willingness IS an important issue.

Not really close, but this is in OKC. We walked through some in the summer, looks like they don't have as many on the lot as they did back then. It seemed they had every trailer but the bunk when we were there.
