Comparing European ratings to US ratings is apples to oranges. faster speeds here. wider trailers here. more heat and elevation change here. different tounge weight characteristics.

So we checked out a 25SS ocean breeze. Oh man, we love that ocean breeze interior, and it was so good to finally step inside one of these. We like how much wider the bed is than the 23D. We dig the dual outside storage hatches. It definitely felt more like a "cottage" than a manhattan apartment.

Then we headed over to Vee Vee's 2014 27 FB. What a beautiful trailer. It was a twin, and those just feel SOOO open and big. While we can't tow a 27, it was good to remember the layout for a 25 (with a few small exceptions - smaller wardrobe, counter, and different bed setup). Those twins are cool with the 3 exterior access hatches. They were HUGE! WHat a beatiful trailer. Thank you Vee Vee.

After seeing a 25ss in person, we think we could make it work. it was fun to see one in person, and it confirmed our suspicions that it'd work for us full-time (barely). So the search continues. We really hope to find an ocean breeze, as that model was so inviting inside. So much better than the dark wood of the CCD. That being said, we'd still take a CCD.

Thanks for all the help and advice everyone, this thread has been super helpful.

Well not an Ocean Breeze but I did talk with someone considering selling their 25SS and moving to a newer/larger Airstream. This was at Urban Air happening this weekend. PM inbound with her contact.

Looks like Colonial Airstream has a 2005 22'CCD in inventory.

Should be the same as this trailer.

http://www.colonialairstream.com/preowned/8301.html

Is that too small for you?

That's pretty cool! We weren't aware of that model either. The tanks might be a little small, but we might be able to make those work.

Seeing this floorplan makes me want to turn the desk into a corner bed, and the bed into an office...

We aren't huge fans of composting toilets, but if we were able to combine black and grey, that'd allow us to be in a smaller trailer. The other issue is the size of the fridge. I'm going to have to study the ccd 22. Thanks for the tip. We really like that it's a dual axle too. We really want that on our next trailer too.

Hey, I'll gladly pay a small finders fee once we find the perfect trailer. An ocean breeze 25ss is at the top of our list. $100 finders fee for anyone who can find us the right one for sale.

The 22 CCD has a wet bath. The fridge is less than 4 cu/ft. I've also read some owners of this model model had frame issues. I've seen this model and it is smaller than it looks in the photos.
The bed is only 48".

That 22' had some frame failure issues early on.

Is that the one mali Mish has? They don't seem to be using it these days. Maybe they would swap for the 30?

Mali Mish has an ocean breeze, but it isn't a 25ss. His is wither a 25fb or a 27fb, I can't remember which. We would be open to a 25fb ocean breeze (or flying cloud for that matter).

We wish we could find something in the 22-25' range that had a big fridge and big tanks, but we must be the only crazies who want to fill time in something smaller than 27'

I had a 25 and now have a 30. I can tell you first hand that the bigger tanks make a huge difference.

Isn't the only tank that is bigger in the 30 the water tank, 54 gal vs 37 gal in the 25/27. The waste tanks are about the same. I haven't tried boondocking (other in no hookup campgrounds like NPS) so maybe the extra 17 gallons is worthwhile if the water source is miles away.

Yes. I suppose you are right, although the grey tank is a bit bigger as well.

We tend to stay out for 3-4 days max before moving. We have run out of water with the 25 but not yet with the 30.

While a big fresh tank would be nice, we can easily fill that with 10 gal every day. We can't easily empty the grey when we'return boondocking.

We've been resisting getting a composting toilet for several reasons. We may have to look into getting one and combining the tanks to make one large Grey tank. We would rather have a big gretsch tank than a small Grey and big fresh. Grey and black are the most important to us.

It'd be awesome to find a 22-25 footer with the tanks we have now on our 30, but we realize that will never happen.

We can currently make it 2 weeks before the grey or black fill. We run out of fresh after a week, but we have been adding 10 gal a day via a pump and some jerry cans. It works pretty well.

Man, these 25ss are tough to find. I see a couple in CA, one in Maine, and that's it.

We are curious if anyone has swapped the fridge in a 23d. I think if you pulled out the microwave you could fit a 5 or 6 cf fridge in there...

We are having such a tough time finding a 25ss that we are somewhat considering a 23.

The main reason we want an ocean breeze is for the light Grey cabinets inside. If there were a good way to paint the cabinetry in a safari le, we could save a lot of money and still get a fresh looking interior. Anyone have a good way to paint the cabinets in a newer airstream? I realize it'll hurt resale, but if there's a clean way to do it, we will.

Just about any finish can be provided with a Vinyl wrap? Could be removed at sale. Would protect the finish in the interim. But suppose it depends on how serous you are about an alternative. Pat

We too love the Ocean Breeze! But the cabinetry is primarily white, rather than grey. The exceptions are the galley cabinet doors and counter top which are "clay" colored--really a warm grey or grey-beige in our 2009 28'. The dinette is a 50's pattern of grey grey on white for an overall light grey effect.

Vinyl wrap is a very interesting idea! But of course, your fabrics for seating and curtains won't be Ocean Breeze's distinctive look.

If you actually like grey furniture, you could consider the Serenity. although it has a faint wood grain, the overall effect is grey or grey/beige. We just live the white, and are hoping they NRJ g it back in some upcoming model.
