OK, guys. Here's a thought on the desk/25FB. I saw ( but cannot find the site/pic, of course) two renos:

1 - They took a twin ( I think fb) and took out the one twin and put in a big desk that i believe could flip down. They replaced the other twin with a pull out queen which, when pushed back (like a gaucho/futon thing) allows more floor space for a chair. You know how those queen beds can be shoved up and goes up the wall? I think the night stand may have been removed or redone.

2- They took the long lounge/sofa section out and put in a desk with some drawers. They reconfigured the dinette a little and made it more modular with a two part dinette.

I'll try and find the pictures. The second one was an international and I believe the reno was done by Ultimate Airstream.

Ok.

Again, I ask why? I'm not saying you are right or you are wrong. It is, after all, your opinion. But I'm curious as to why you have that opinion. What about the NV makes it no good for someone coming from a van?

It drives like an old clunky pickup, with terrible driver visibility compared to a van. The suspension of the demo I drove a couple of years ago seemed too soft and squirrely (sp?), and it was empty. Probably could be set up correctly, but I just did not like it at all.

Have a good weekend.

I've never driven an ng, but I like them on paper, especially with the new Cummins v8. However, it doesn't have anything that I don't already have with my 4x4 7.3 diesel e350 (except a high roof, which I can add)

Just FYI:

I added a "Consider a Van as a Tow Vehicle" thread to the forum in case you'd like to add anything to it.

Thanks for the good dialogue.

This site shows a desk in a 25fb

http://seattleairstream.com/ultimateairstreams.asp

Then pull out the curb side dinette seat and install a Lambright wall hugger recliner in matching Ultraleather. Modify the table to allow it to fit.

It's been almost 9 months since we were last at an Airstream dealer. Tonight, at a local RV park we met a few streamers and they let us into their models. SUPER nice people, one of them being our very own Vee Vee on airforums

So we checked out a 25SS ocean breeze. Oh man, we love that ocean breeze interior, and it was so good to finally step inside one of these. We like how much wider the bed is than the 23D. We dig the dual outside storage hatches. It definitely felt more like a "cottage" than a manhattan apartment.

Then we headed over to Vee Vee's 2014 27 FB. What a beautiful trailer. It was a twin, and those just feel SOOO open and big. While we can't tow a 27, it was good to remember the layout for a 25 (with a few small exceptions - smaller wardrobe, counter, and different bed setup). Those twins are cool with the 3 exterior access hatches. They were HUGE! WHat a beatiful trailer. Thank you Vee Vee.

After seeing a 25ss in person, we think we could make it work. it was fun to see one in person, and it confirmed our suspicions that it'd work for us full-time (barely). So the search continues. We really hope to find an ocean breeze, as that model was so inviting inside. So much better than the dark wood of the CCD. That being said, we'd still take a CCD.

Thanks for all the help and advice everyone, this thread has been super helpful.

We moved this year from a 25FB FC Queen to 28 SIG Twin. The twins gives you a lot of open space, additional storage with the three compartments, etc. but I don't love sleeping on the twin beds (should I be concerned my wife likes them). Like you guys we are considering pulling the trigger on 600-900 watts of solar but I'm hesitant to move forward since I've not fully bought into the twins. We'll see how we feel after the year but I'm thinking there might be a 30ft in our foreseeable future (time will tell). Until then, no solar!
