Tires

I am upgrading a bunch of things including wheels and tires, going from fifteen inch to sixteen inch. Any recommendations for tires?

I was thinking Michelin but am hearing that there are other options including Maxis.

Yup

See the little guy waving at you on the tire on the left? About 11 o'clock. He's YOUR man!

If you are going to 16" wheels, go to Michelin. End of discussion.

Myself and many here on these Forums have gone to 16" wheels with Michelin LT tires. I have 65,000 miles with this combination without a single issue.

Maxxis is known for their ST trailer tires. I had a set a couple of sets some years ago. I guess that they make LT tires, but I have never seen any.

I vote for the Michelins. All our motor vehicles (and the AS) have them. Never had a problem.

The Michelin LT that are being referenced, are they the LTX series? I couldn't find trailer tires on their website.

Check out the new Goodyear Endurance ST tires. I installed them on my Flying Cloud 30. They have an E load rating and a new for trailer tires speed rating of 87 mph. This, I hope, will be a good upgrade for Airstream tires and are now factory installed. You get the rugged advantages of a ST tire with the original 15" rims and the higher speed rating of a SUV tire. I towed across Nevada this summer at 75 mph and the 65 psi cold tire pressure went to about 73 psi and temps around 100F max. These numbers compared with the Marathon tires running at 65 mph or less. Should be a good setup.
