Strong vinyl smell

Hello,

My 09 FC interior smells very strongly of vinyl. The only vinyl in the trailer is the flooring. Any ideas of how to reduce the odor?

Many thanks!

Hi

After roughly 6 to 8 years, there should be zero odor from anything used to build the trailer. Unless you have had everything closed up for a couple months, I'd guess it's not the floor it's self. Yes, some people are more sensitive than others ...

So, is this a "new to you" trailer?

Are you often noticing vinyl odors?

I'd bet that either somebody spilled something or you have an overheat situation in something like the converter.

Vinyl smell

Same here. Ours is a previously owned 2005 International CCD and we get the same smell every so often.

Turns out when pulling the white vinyl shades down "Bam" there it is.

Appears at least in our case pulling down the shades and leaving them down for long periods unoccupied let's em air and thus less smell.

Ultimately unrolling them out in the sun for a day or two or washing them down with pleasant dish soap may work better. Hopefully.

Hi

If it's shades, take a look at what has been used to clean them in the past couple years. Also consider things that might have been used to lubricate the mechanism or tracks.

We’ve owned the trailer for a couple of years and it always has the strong vinyl smell, even after being open for days.

We had and then sold a '94 34 footer because of the smell. Don't know if it was vinyl or adhesive but it was so strong our clothes reeked of it to the point people would know we had been camping if we saw them later and wore clothes that were in the Airstream. Tried everything. Our other 3 over the years were fine, 68, 76 and 81.

I just realized I didn't try and offer a solution. Wish I had one. This one baffles me to this day. Airstream was no help and said just to air it out.
