thanks for following j-dog. I wish I could remember where I purchased them from. I think it was an electronics store. Here are some comparable ones on Amazon (all three have excellent ratings):

Thumbs up Love y'all!!

We have also been watching your channel and LOVE all that we have been able to learn from y'all. We are naive newbies in our mid 30's and are getting ready to purchase a Flying Cloud 30fb. We keep going back and forth on whether or not to have the factory installed solar but haven't made a decision yet.

Keep the awesome videos coming and happy traveling!

Depending on how you'll use it, our advice: don't buy a new Airstream, and don't pay extra for the factory solar. But everyone's situation will be different. Best of luck to you. It might be worth starting a thread about that topic, you'll get lots of opinions from people with far more experience than us.

Whatever you do, make sure you understand what you're getting when you buy the solar from the factory. Don't just throw your dollars to the wind saying "well, factory solar is better than nothing..."

Make sure you understand the capacity of the inverter, of the charge controller, and the wiring gauge. Don't just make a blind purchase thinking "oh... i want solar... the factory setup must be a good way to do it." Make sure you're informed (if you haven't already, check out our solar 101 and 201 videos to understand how they work).

Cool, let me know if you need a place to crash. I'm the facility guy at a small camp at 3600 ft. We have some rv sites with electric and water.

I may have missed it in the videos, was there a screen or anything that you had to remove from the fridge vent?

We opted not to remove the screen. Instead, we drilled into the side of the fridge vent. It's on one of the solar install videos - probably #7.

Yeah, I liked your idea of drilling the holes and then using cable glands to ensure a watertight entry for the cables, leaving the screen neatly in place and functional.

I'm going to be adding 3 more 100w panels next week.

I'll also be adding some flexible conduit around the 4 gauge wires to protect them from uv rays.

Sparky the Airstream

Interesting idea on the conduit. I put my white flexy LMR400 antenna cable up on the roof without any additional UV protection. I'll have to read up to see whether that would be called for.

Ah, a quick read at this link says is is pretty tough stuff, including UV resistance, good for up to 20 years. So I guess we'll do without covering our antenna cable unless we hear otherwise. .

Apparently my 10 gauge wire is uv resistant but my 4 gauge isn't. You've got me wanting to check my antenna now too.
