I think you could remove the screen spline, and install new screening with spline on the bottom, and the two sides. Then “jimmy” the top spline into the top groove with a flat bar or screwdriver. SOME tool would work IMO even if you had to use the upper cabinet as a fulcrum for the flat bar to push the spline in.
The screen spline does not have to be one continuous length if it mostly keeps the screen in the groove.
Not a perfect solution, but it might work?

PS — If you are going to remove the dinette for your re-upholstery work, taking the upper cabinet(s?) out would be less of a project.

Peter,
Thanks. Your guess is exactly in line with what we are trying. 3/4 of it is perfect and for the top we bent a spoon tip (it has a rounded edge so it isn’t sharp enough to cut the screen) and have half-assed pushed it in there. It doesn’t actually want to stay put though. Our worries are the dang mosquitoes getting in, so we are going to resort to gorilla tape, which will be hidden by the top of the blinds. In the meantime, I’ve noticed that the other window screen is starting to get a hole as well, dang it! The screen we are replacing actually had a big rip, so we had to replace it asap. So, at some point, we may decide to just go ahead and remove the cabinets and replace both properly at the same time. We’ll do this off season instead of when we are about to go on a trip.
