Thumbs down window shattering

This just happened to us! Found the rear curved window on our 2014 International appeared to have blown out from inside. Calling the dealer, he said it would be very hard to prove it was faulty glass. He also mentioned the chip theory but being a rear window that doesn't seem possible or very likely. I think the dealers hear this frequently because my dealer said everything that was contained in this thread and added a bird could have hit it. However we found no feathers or knocked out birds in the yard. This window had to be special ordered and with labor will cost $1600! Somebody should figure something out, like upgrading the windows to have the laminate that cars do.

I'd be less apt to believe faulty glass or the whole pressure theory. I'd be looking into whether or not there is enough expansion area in that window frame. Look closely at the window gasket to be sure it all has equal amounts of "cushion" all the way around the frame. Be sure there are no areas where the gasket is bunched or smashed too tight (with some of the recent horror stories I've read lately about lax quality control on these new trailers, it's worth a look)
Every morning when the sun comes up, I sit and listen to the expansion of the Airstream body while having coffee.

If that rear window is a wrap window, Airstream factory price is $ 860.00.

Labor takes 2 hours or less.
