New Flying Cloud OceanAir Roller Shades Question.
We really like these roller shades in our 2016 Flying Cloud. Much nicer we think and no problems with strings or bends now like we had with the aluminum mini blinds of our past Airstreams.
My question is for those who have these blinds. Do you travel with them up in the stored position or down? Also, when you store your trailer between outings do you up or down?
I like the sun protection when stored but not sure if over time it will be harmful to the springs and tension to leave them down for weeks or months at a time. They have good tension now and would like that to continue.
Thoughts, experience, comments? Thanks everyone!

We also replaced the blinds a couple years ago w Ocean Air shades in the BR to prevent light infiltration during sleep hours.
We usually have them at half open when traveling, as the sides catch on the window levers and it makes it easy to have some light since they do not work like normal shades. I have had them attached with the knob at the bottom too during travel and they have been fine. However, my complaint is that the sides fray. These are very expensive and this should not happen.

I never considered the spring tension ware as our AS is new. Living in Fl I always store with shades down, during travel I'll adjust as needed depending on where I'm at. I feel the shades are a less costly replacement than dryer out cracked leather furniture & faded fabric & floors.

I replaced all the OceanAir shades in my 2012 28' Intl with mini blinds. Why? While I liked the OceanAir's initially, I did NOT like the way stood up over the 2 + years I had the trailer. If you pull them and you have the windows open, they block air from coming in the trailer. IF you don't roll them absolutely straight into the cassette, the edges fray. All it takes is one mistake and they are frayed. I had one shade where the backing separated. For me, the blinds were a better solution. And, they are very, very expensive.

Down for travel, down for storage. Up for camping when we want the light or view.
