New Airstream Flying Cloud 25 - Decor Questions

We pick up our new airstream next Friday. I'm trying to find out what you are doing with colors with the dark "Golden Night" counter tops? While the ultraleather we have "Cashew" is neutral, I'm finding the dark greenish color very difficult to match. What color schemes are you going with for dishes, etc.? Photos would be great - I'm a visual. Thanks!

Use some neutral cashew dishes trimmed with gold and/or burgundy (which goes with everything) on the Golden Night countertops. Then take those colors into textiles and accessories about the interior. Don't try to match the countertops, they are enough in themselves. Work to coordinate a few other colors, such as mentioned, onto them.

Find a theme style, and stick with it throughout. The cold metal interior can always use some warm colors with brighter accents, carefully, as too much is too much.

The metal interior is interesting, it reflects light and color thereby amplifying it. You look into these metal walls more than looking at them; the less they are covered the better. Another interesting element is the lack of defined corners, the ceilings become walls, the ends wrap around to the sides. The usual sense of being enclosed in a box is not occurring here.

The large windows everywhere brings the outdoors in during the day. At night they become black holes, the shades or coverings should be light tones.

These are great interiors and a direct expression of the exterior shape. You really can't go wrong here.

Thanks. I was thinking of doing something with neutral (tan or off white) dishes and accents of red, like maybe red poppies throw pillows and a couple red appliances, i.e. kreurig, utensils, etc. For dishes, I was thinking Corelle because they are light weight and hard to break, but the choices are severely limited. Melanine is nice, but it doesn't work in the microwave for reheating, etc. I wanted the MICA countertops but hardly any units have them on dealer lots.

BradandLilly: I'm close to you in Littlestown. In fact, I'm trading in my 23D Flying Cloud in next Thursday. Appointment at Colonial Airstream.

Oh my gosh! Small world. We have never seen an Airstream in the Gettysburg area! We are headed to Colonial Friday morning, the 22nd to complete our purchase. Send me a PM and tell me a little more about your location, etc. And, by the say, its "Libby".

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

We opted for a darker motif with the black ultra leather and the same dark counter tops that you have. We prefer the dark finishes as we have found in our extensive Airstream travel (1,800 nights/150,000 miles) that the dark looks better longer without much work. We try to brighten it up with some accents and lighting.

Here are a few photos.

Re: decor questions

Congrats on your new AS!
Here is a picture of the colors we went with. I have not noticed the green hue in the countertops. I think the royal blue offsets it and they appear more brown and neutral. To keep the bright and cheery look, I have royal blue placemats and white Correlle dishes with the blue rim. The bedding was switched over to a reversible royal blue and white pattern with some yellow throw pillows to carry the theme throughout.
Enjoy decorating!

Thanks Carleen. I wouldn't have thought to use Royal Blue (my favorite color), but you are right...it looks good. I think I've settled on using my Fiestaware Ivory Dishes and add to that some accents of red. I found a very pretty tray for the galley with big poppies on it. I will post a photo this weekend after we pick up and get settled in.

Our new Airstream FC 25

We picked up our Airstream yesterday and are currently at the Pine Tree Resort in New Jersey. So far, we LOVE IT, but there is a huge learning curve. Here are a couple of photos.

It looks great! Everything seems backwards though... since ours is the FC 25' FB.

She looks great. Ours is also an FB, so yours is a mirror image. Yes, there is a learning curve to this RV thing, but it's not launching rockets.

Take your time, and think as you go. All things will become clear, and eventually second nature. Even highly experienced RVers make mistakes now and again.

Don't forget, you always have access to experienced help here on Airforums.

Congratulations on your new baby. May you have safe travels and many great Airstream Adventures with her.

Nice. We have this model as well and love it, very adaptable to modification to suit the owners. A couple of early improvements on ours.

We thought the bath door should open toward the bedroom rather than toward the living room for privacy and ease of use at night. Opening it could also provide a screen for the bath/bed area. So we unscrewed the door and hinge from the jamb, turned it upside down and screwed it to the opposite side. Moved the catch and filled the holes with wood putty.

The bath mirror is only a small swinging mirror but very useful. She uses it all the time and so do I. So we left it in place, moved the plastic hold-down to the opposite side, moved the towel bar to the side wall, and bought a larger mirror at Ikea to fit the space. We attached that to the wall with high quality double-sided mirror tape and it's been there for a few years. Perfect.

Color Themes

Hi,
We have a 28' Flying Cloud with the Cashew Ultra Leather and the dark counter tops. I have done a lot with red. Picking it up in the placemats, dishes, and kitchen towels. We also have an outdoor camping theme with a Pendleton Blanket. The Corelle dishes are the Bandhani pattern.

I just purchased a 2014 25 FC too and pick it up from Colonial AS in NJ on June 17. Patrick gave me the tour. Very helpful.
I feel like a sprinter waiting for the gun shot to start the race. I can't wait to get in that baby and try it out. Love the mirror idea! Must have bigger mirrors so I will be doing that too. And flipping the toilet door around is something I will consider. And splashes of red are a must. But I very much love the almond leather and night countertop color theme. I find it calming. How/where does everyone store their matress pillow toppers for the dinette area? Would love your suggestions.
Will be traveling with a couple tall men and two teens and want to be sure they are comfi.
