New 2015 Flying Cloud 28A (Twin)

New owner, new forum member. Picking up my new 2015 FC 28A from BT Campers on the 14th. Forums were very helpful in choosing right model and options. End of year model, good deal so went new. Maiden voyage 800 miles back home. Will report back with first impressions

Twin models go fast. 25RB Twin lasted one week in Springfield. Both 28 and 25 twin models in Dublin TX dealership are gone. Its funny how twins are popular with Airstream customers yet no conventional RV manufacturer offers twins. Maybe I should get someone to convert my Classic 25FB queen to twins. It should be a straight forward modification. It would be a cheaper alternative to buying new.

Congrats on your new 28. We just traded in our 2014 25FC Twin a couple of weeks ago for a 2015 28FC Twin. Got the new one in Dublin, TX and I checked their website middle of last week and our 2014 had already sold. They are a great plan which we really have enjoyed. Lengthy trip in the 25 last year with two labs along and the floor plan works very well. Enjoy your new rig and maybe we will see you on the road.

OK, it has been a month since my last post and a LOT has happened. The post New 2015 Flying Cloud 28A (Twin) is now New 2015 Flying Cloud 30 (Twin). Picked up our new FC28 Twin and headed to Branson, MO for a couple of days. Then onto Catherine's Landing in Hot Springs. Boy the Airstream follows my F150 like a homesick puppy! Sunday afternoon 4/19 a Hailstorm with golf balls came down for 25 minutes. Totaled the rig. So So Sad!

Went back to Bill Thomas RV in Wentzville, MO and left with my second Flying Cloud in two weeks! We really like the FC28 and could not find another with Twins. After a week in the FC30 Twin Janet fell in love all over again. Boy! 3' is significant in a travel trailer. More storage space, bigger bath and larger galley! Janet has named the FC30 "Sweetie". We can't wait for a proper honeymoon with Sweetie.

Owning an Airstream in the Midwest is hazardous. I pay for covered storage and will not go out if there is a forecast of severe thunderstorms. I guess the experience with hail hasn't turned you off on Airstreams. I hope you never experience this again. You didn't happen to take any photos of your poor FC28 did you before handing it over to the insurance company?

I'm surprise BT didn't get hit by hail several weeks ago when a big storm came through. Some members living close by got hit by hail.

Mycloud sounds like you got excellent service from your insurance carrier. Care to give a shout out for who you have if you are happy? Everyone always wants to know who the good guys are. We love our Classic twin.

A big shoutout to BT, got me back on the road quickly. BT has some near miss hail stories from early April.

I have had two Harleys insured with Sue Haley my Progressive Agent in The Woodlands, TX since 1999. A natural choice for my Flying Cloud. Four days old when totaled. Actually everyone at Progressive was more upset by my loss than theirs (^;^). More than one expressed dreams of an Airstream someday. A shoutout for Sue and Progressive!

Only delay was I had the Birth Certificate for my FC28 (4 days old) and I had to title before I could give them the trailer for settlement. (Texas had to get their sales tax)

Yicks what a lot of excitement you guys have had the past little while. Glad to hear it seems to have worked out. If I remember right you guys use an F150 as a TV are you still planning to continue to use it for the new 30FC.

Cheers
Doug

Yes to the F150 3.5 EcoBoost: the gross is well below the capacity of the truck and the 30' is 100 lbs lighter on the hitch than the 28' Towed quite nicely one the trailer brakes were set properly. About 1/2 mpg less due to the additional wt

So sorry for all you guys have had to go through in a short period of time. Glad all seemed to have worked out well for you. We took delivery of our 2015 FC28 twin in late March and with all of the storms have yet to go out and use it for the fear of what happened with yours. I have it in covered storage and we have been fortunate to have dodged the many tornados and hail storms that have come through over the last 5-6 weeks. More sever stuff this weekend. Best of luck with your new "Sweetie". Safe travels.
