Lounge / bed pull out extension

So how do you keep the cushion in that pullout extension when converting the lounge into a bed? My older daughter sleeps there and it always comes off at night even if we put a fitted sheet over it.

It seems like the lip they added on the end of the pullout section is not tall enough to keep the cushion in place.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks!

This has been a head scratcher for us, too-we've had both a 23D and now a 27FB and both times couldn't see why they just didn't let the extension out just an inch more to fit the back cushion properly. It's pretty frustrating. The only thing that's helped for us is slipping a foam strip (cut off the reg sized queen bed topper-to fit the short queen) underneath and that helps the cushion stay in place somewhat when everything is enclosed by an elasticized, padded topper (full-size), followed by another full-size fitted sheet. If anyone has further extended these side gliders with some success, however, I would be interested in knowing how.

Interesting... We noticed the same thing when we took out our 23D for the shake out tour (can't wait until we take it out again next week ... complete with repairs we found during the shake down tour).

I thought maybe we were doing something wrong, but sounds like this is just the way it is.

Perhaps the sewing club never chatted with the carpenters.

Why is there no snap or velcro for the wall cushion at the end of the 25FB and 23D sofa? It gets to hop off the sofa and cruise the floor when underway.

Won't the cushions 'stay put' pretty well if you move the larger cushion out onto the pulled-out extension, and put the smaller cushion back against the wall?

That's the way I did it with my 2006. The EB doesn't have a pull out.

When we convert our twins in main cabin to a queen, we put a large kayak strap around both bunks and it works great. I don't know if that will work for you, but it works for us.

We velcroed all our cushions when we converted our dinette to lounge/bed. Works great.

One piece cover for seat cushion and back

I apologize in advance if this is irrelevant. On my 1977 airstream Argosy motorhome the cover for the seat back and the bottom cushion is one piece. There are zippered pockets for the seatback and bottom cushions. The fabric in between acts as a kind of hinge. Two slots in this 'fabric hinge' allow seatbelts to pass through (this is a motorhome after all.) At night, I wrap this all up in a thick foam mattress protector. It is very comfortable.

If you watch the Colonial Airstream walk through video that is the way they demonstrate making-up the pull out bench bed.

We actually tried this this weekend, and it didn't make it any better. The larger piece "popped out" and the gap was now closer to the wall.

That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure how well it will work. Glad to hear it's working well. So basically glue velcro on the extension board and then use the opposite pice of velcro that's already on the back cushion.

That's what my wife suggested we do this weekend. Between the straps and velcro I think I'll have that fixed for good!

That seems like a better design. On ours the back cushion is actual two pieces. One narrower one that's snapped to the wall, and another taller that's vectored to it. I guess this type of design doesn't allow the back and button cushions to be connected.
