Infomation about Airstream factory custom orders

We are owners of a 2004 19 foot Bambi Safari and are looking at moving up to a 23FB Flying Cloud to get some extra room and double axles. Does anyone have experience with custom orders from the Airstream factory? We are wondering whether we can order carpeting on the walls and ceiling just like our Bambi Safari has? Is a custom order placed through the dealer or directly with Airstream?

Thanks,

Jim

Orders cannot be placed directly with Airstream and they do not do custom work anyway. The best you could hope for would be to have the trailer built the normal way and then have it converted to what you for some reason want.

There are some "options" that can be selected that might not normally cross the radar screen. One can specify that 16" Michelin LT tires and appropriate wheels be factory installed versus the 15" ST Good year Marathons. One can specify the factory hydraulic brake system. One can add a second tv in the bedroom on some models. Anything is possible if you cross their palms with enough gold....

Special orders generate additional revenue for change orders that cost virtually nothing to implement as most things have been done before. Push a button and the EDM machine will not cut out that ceiling opening in the roof metal.

Call the factory and a dealer and get adamant about what you want. The worst case is they say no.

hmm. you're right that the end buyer does not order directly from the factory.

iirc, the dealer can special order certain items or changes for you that may or may not be inexpensive to get. your time waiting for an order, or willingness to pay will be important.

if you search, I believe that you'll find a few posts here discussing the possibilities.

the factory Customer Relations Manager may also be a resource for you.

best,
