Identify Thingamachig Over Cabinets

We're learning our 2015 25fb Flying Cloud on-the-run. Purchased a few days ago just before leaving town.

Over the rear cabinets is a small thing (picture attached) that looks somewhat like a microphone. Any ideas what it is? Thanks in advance.

Yep, Bluetooth microphone...

It is a microphone wired to your radio, when then connects by Bluetooth to your phone. The microphone and speakers can serve as a speaker phone for calls, if you configure your radio that way. It would also support interaction with Siri and similar I think, although I've never tried that. Joe

Should read "which then", not "when then". Joe

So it's not the Russians spying on us? I'm surprised AS bothered to bring out the mic but not aux or USB.

Thanks for your responses.

The aux USB should be in the cabinet that houses the blue ray player, and usually will be found laying on top of the cabinet that contains the player.

Looks like a Bluetooth mic to me.
When your phone is paired to your stereo you can have conversations via Bluetooth.
I find it very annoying for the person on the phone to be blasting through the speakers, though.

This is above the back cabinet? Are you meaning in the bedroom? If so, I'd be darn sure it was off when I'm in there being busy. Wife's phone will "Butt Dial" and wouldn't want that to be over-heard.

Always funny how many people can respond with the same answer like it was an original.

Just in case the OP missed it the first 4 times, it is a Bluetooth Microphone.

Oh, it is most definitely the Russians or might even be the Koreans.

Technically it is a microphone only. The Bluetooth connection is to the radio.

That's right - BT is in the radio communicating with a phone.

I can find no aux or USB in the compartment with the DVD player. After the holiday, I want to remove the structure surrounding it thinking the cables are probably back there. When we bought the AS, the player was unplugged & removed from its cubby.
Happy Holidays to all...

If that cabinet has been removed, it is very possible the connector fell inside.

Just trying to keep this thread alive.

If you're an American I think you'll find the spymasters spying on you are a lot closer to home; they are a lot sneakier and omnipresent than the Ruskies or NK.

Cheers
Tony

I removed the DVD player enclosure to find the USB cable. Assume an AUX cable might be in the nest of wires in behind the Clarion but don't need it. I then realized my iPod is 2600 miles away so this was simply an exercise. In the meantime my wife and I continue using written notes and gestures until the microphone is positively verified to be benign. As an aside, our relationship has benefited from this method of communication.

Again, thanks for all your input.
