I would not take anyones word here or from an Airatream dealer that this is normal. Sounds like a trip to Jackson Center is in order. They are about 3 months behind on service appointments.

If you want a flat floor in an aluminum travel trailer you would need to buy an Avion.
But the newest avion you can get is a 1990 since they are out of business.
Plus they do not look as cool as an Airstream..

Jackson Center said my floor humps are normal. I had already presumed the humps were seams in the plywood because they are 4' apart.

At best this is nothing more than an excuse for cheap design and poor quality.

If they are in fact placing a wire chase on top of the frame it would be a simple thing to under cut the sub floor at that point and place a strip of sheet metal on top of the floor to reinforce the cut and maintain a flat floor.

This is nothing more than a demonstration in the lack of quality Airstream is willing to supply.

Double ditto. My hump in at the foot of the bed, left to right. Just because Airstream says it is normal does not make it so. Sounds more like poor design to me.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines a "trip hazard" as any change in vertical height greater than 1/4". The rise of the floor in my AS as measured by the dealer and reported to JC is 3/8".

I have some buckles in my vinyl, one next to the kitchen cabinets below the drawers and one under the rear dinette. Both are adjacent where the vinyl goes under the cabinetry. Not noticeable. I haven't noticed any seam humps. 2008 Classic 25fb.

You know - seam humps of 3/8 inch seem improbable to me. The last time I was at the factory, they were using plywood with tongue and groove edges. So how the heck do you get more than 1/16 inch difference at a seam in the plywood with T&G plywood?

Or have they stopped using T&G?

Get the ADA involved? Let's see, widen the door for wheelchair access, change the bathrooms so the showers and toilet has grab rails, lower the appliances for better access, etc, don't go there!

So far ADA does not have jurisdiction on trailers. However Lawyers might sight the standard when presenting a case. A customer that wants action might also make Airstream aware of the standard.

If we all ready have a couple of owners with this problem you might consider acting together when contacting Airstream. Individually you will be blown off because of the extensive cost required to fix these humps. GM blow the public off for 10 years till the death rate became public. Now I doubt deaths will occur here but are you satisfied with what you paid for?

I guess it's like the tar seams in a concrete roadway vs. a speed bump. One is a thump, thump and one is a BUMP. It's all relative to our perception.

That is pretty big. Mine are so small they are just barely noticeable. The light has to hit them a certain way, or I have to rub my sock foot across them to tell where they are. One is about from the kitchen sink cabinet across to the dinette bench. The other is about from the cooktop cabinet to the other dinette bench. No big deal really. Seams in the plywood-

There was a little spring feeling in the bedroom street side, but when we were in Jackson Center we had that fixed. The technician tightened up the quarter round holding the vinyl down.
I would highly recommend talking any new airstream to Jackson center in it's first twenty-four months. They will fix anything large or small. What impressed me is these units are handmade, with that said there are bound to be minor imperfections that need correcting.

There was a newbie a year or two ago who filled her water tank by pushing the hose down the opening - and overfilled it so severely that it broke and buckled the floor.

Hate to say it but a 3/8" bump just isn't normal. Some dealerships just don't want to tie up a bay for a 3-5 day job. I say - time for a trip to the mothership.

We've got a 2015 FC 30' bunk and also have "humps" going from side-to-side. However they are not 4' apart as other commenters said. Ours are a few inches apart and there are 4-5 of them. We've also got 2 leaks underneath the humps, one of which is dripping reddish water. Our vinyl got a small puncture where the humps are and reddish-brown liquid is VERY slowly seeping out. We are taking it to Bay Area Airstream in 3 days. Hoping it's not anything major.
