Fresh water tank inlet question

I am a newbie AS owner (2015 20 ft FC) about to sanitize/flush my fresh water tank for the first time. I tried pushing in the metal male end of the 5/8 inch white hose into the fresh water tank inlet but encounter resistance right away. It looks like there are some hose "holders" (?) just inside the inlet entrance, but I dont want to force the male end of the hose in any further without getting advice. Should I be using a piece of hose without a metal male end? If not, how far in can the hose male metal end be safely pushed in?

Take a picture and post if you can. There is really nothing in there, however, that said the hose does not go in far at all. I or someone I ask usually stands and holds the hose in place while it fills up the tank. I do use a drinkable hose, white with blue stripe, same one I use to hook up to water in campgrounds, to fill up tank.

I forget, but I do not believe the male end will even fit much at all into my FW tank opening.

I bought one of those clear hose additions with a valve on it to use for filling my FW tank.

I suggest you put a hose clamp on the plastic hose where it connects to the valve assembly. This will prevent the clear part going for a swim in your fresh tank. Ask me how I know.

I steer clear of using my sanitary hose for cleaning the tanks. If there's any backflush, it could be contaminated. We have a separate small hose for cleaning.
