Fresh water tank drain for a 2014 Airstream 27fb Flying Cloud

Could anyone advise me if an Airstream 2014 27FB has a fresh water tank valve/drain and if so where it would be located.

I am sure it has, my 2014 20' FC has one. Check in your manual, it should show the location. A call to your dealer should also get results for your model. I am out in my Argosy now, or I would look to see if my manual also covers your 27' FB.

What you seek is located on the street side (same as dump valves) between the two axles. Look for a small white valve which has its underside protected with a small piece of metal.

Well I have a 2014 25 FC and there is a 1/4 turn drain valve located inside the street side front compartment. I opened it and nothing came out. Once I started the water pump I saw water. So it looks like the drain is on the discharge side of the pump. I used this drain / pump to flush my fresh water tank

I had hoped that I could drain the fresh water tank without using the water pump. I'm not sure which model year, but someone had posted that they had to pump their fresh water from the fresh water tank, to the gray water tank, and then empty the gray water tank. IMHO that is an unnecessary use of the pump and more time consuming than should be ncessary. I hoped, that like most campers today, all that was necessary was turning a valve and empty the tank such as the picture in one of the previous replies indicated.

We have the exact same unit as you do (2014 27' FB) and you most definitely DO NOT need to use the water pump to drain the fresh water holding tank. Just open the little valve I mentioned earlier and let the tank drain itself. There is a small air vent next to the water tank fill that will relieve the air pressure caused by draining the tank so there is no need to open a faucet inside.

Note that this valve has a very small opening and that it will take a long time to empty a full water tank. I just open it and forget it for awhile and then close it when I notice that it has stopped draining.

Sounds like this is one of the drains for the plumbing, usually used to help drain the system for winterizing. Should be at least one each for cold and hot water line. The fresh water tank drain is separate, and on the side of the tank usually between the axles. Check your manual, each model is different, sometimes plumbing system drain valves inside the trailer, sometimes underneath.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I have owned other RVs that it was necessary to crawl underneath the RV to turn the lever for draining the water tank. I'm getting too old for a lot of crawling. I prefer having a unit that thought went into the design.

My wife decided we needed to downsize from a 37 ft. 5th wheel to a smaller travel trailer. Although I told her I would rather keep what we had. But, if she was dead set on downsizing Airstream would be about the only thing that interested me. I loved our fiver.

Hopefully, I will love this 27' Airstream as much. I certainly find this forum very useful. Again, thanks everyone for your responses.

Should you have the need, you will find that the AS is one of the easiest RVs to winterize ... due to the logical drains and HW bypass.
