I installed a Blue LED awning light strip from Recreation Pro. Doesn't change colors. Put it on the shell, not the awning channel but right underneath it. So it shines up and not right in our eyes. Works great. Ran the wire about 14 inches straight toward the back of the trailer (on the outside) and then drilled a 1/4" hole through the shell which enters the cabinet behind the stereo. Tied into the 12v
wiring that goes to the spotlight above the dinette. You access this by the panel that has the electrical outlet in the dvd player cabinet. Then wired a toggle switch from Radio Shack and installed it next to the outlet. I also put in a switch there for my back up camera. Couple hours of work but a clean install.
I can post some pictures if you want, I've seen a couple of posts of others who have done it this way. The light also is visible with the awning closed which is why I put it on the trailer instead of the awning. But it could be done either way.
Big improvement over the glaring round Airstream outside light that we have on our 2012 25'. And we can still see the stars.
