Texas is crazy like that. In Austin, there are neighborhoods in which you technically can't drink a beer on your front porch, and others where you can walk down the street drinking one. For a while a few years ago, TABC was really on a power trip in the DFW area and they were arresting people for public intoxication who were inside hotel bars, guests of the hotel and NOT causing any problems. They got their hands smacked over that and a couple of other egregious incidents and have toned it down a little, but it's still a weird system. You can buy a drink in a bar on Sunday morning after 10 ONLY if you buy food as well, but you can't buy beer or wine from a store until after noon and nothing stronger than wine can be sold on Sundays except by-the-drink in a restaurant or bar.

In all parks I stay at w/no juice allowed....just pour it in a mug and behave yourself on your site...no one will bother you. They just want to keep the ruffians out and keep it family oriented.

Use large coffee mugs and avoid drawing attention to your site.

I guess the sound of ice in the mug is a give away.

Or use an insulated mug/cup that has a lid, helps keep the bugs out

Welcome to the group. We are in Evanston with a 19'. Isn't it fun?? For inside storage we used a place in Manhattan near Joliet called East Gate Storage. It was very good. But after the first season, we decided to leave it outside and save the expense for camping instead. We also sometimes go south and west in January and it is difficult, not impossible, to get it out of storage and back in.

Keep us posted on your travels. You are in for adventures. We love the state parks in Wisconsin, particularly Wyalusing on the cliffs overlooking the Mississippi.

All the best,
Caryl

Welcome Asianmack, we're also up the street in Evanston. We haven't done much local camping -- a trip to California and a rally in Ohio -- but undoubtedly there are many amazing places just a few hours drive to test out your new baby. Congrats!

Thanks everyone! We had a great time at Starved Rock even though it was raining. We're used to tent camping, so this was complete luxury. We even met 3 super nice Airstream couples at the campground.

We're looking forward to taking many trips. Hopefully we'll meet you all someday! Here are some pics of our first campground and first dump! LOL.

You sure picked a rainy weekend, but you look like a pro at the dump station. Hope you had a fantastic time.
