The off-gassing in my Classic when it was new was not a problem, and I have severe allergy/sinus trouble.
Now the SOB before the Airstream was a totally different story-
Airstream has less off-gassing because it has no particle board.

That actually fits for some of them. Except most never last long enough to reach "old".

I'm glad you clarified SOB for me too. I am one of those literal types and thought it meant, well SOB:-) thanks.

Depending on the context and reference it might mean the vernacular(Sp?). But, yes, here, Some Other Brand.

Thank you all for your quick responses! They were very encouraging, especially from those of you who understand what we are dealing with and who have gone through the process.
We checked out an SOB (--love that abbreviation, thanks for clarifying--) and I had a very quick response with burning eyes and difficulty breathing. In an Airstream, I developed a mild headaches sitting in there for a maybe an hour, which is problematic, but sooo much better. Also, it was new, most of the time standing closed up on the lot, and I think that was to be expected.

The questions was for me, what do people do with the out-gasing and how effective is it.
I am very aware that each person with chemical sensitivities is different. Given that the Airstream uses better materials the others and that there is good success with dealing with the fumes makes me very hopeful.
It is very helpful to hear that it has worked well for so many of you. Thanks to all of you!!

To keep fresh air in our Airstream, even when it's raining or maybe will, we installed MaxAir II vent covers over our front and rear Fantastic Fans on the roof. Rain will not come in, even when towing. You can run the fans for plenty of air flow, or just let them ventilate on their own. One of the very best improvements we made to our Airstream.

Oh, don't get hung up on MaxAir II vs. some other vent cover, they all ventilate. Just close your eyes and pick one.

I don't know how you plan to store your Airstream. I am lucky enough to have a barn thus I keep vents open, a window at each end and run a fan 24x7.

Buy the Airstream.
Camp with the windows open.
Take out the bedding.
Put in bedding from home.
Leave the Airstream parked at home with the windows open.
I have extremely sensitive allergies/sinus trouble. I know where you're coming from.

If you are looking at older used Airstreams, realize that some years used waferboard (OSB) floors which might bother you. Mostly in the 80's and early 90's I think. You would have to find a way to look at the floor directly to tell. Some of them also used a little particle board too, for interior bracing of cabinets.
