That is a very nice floor plan and the amenities look good.

We live in MD too and just bought a 26U from Patrick at Colonial. We got a great deal and really like that dealership. We are new to Airstreams.

Not so sure the 17's are coming in 3 months; I was told by NW AS there was a 16 1/2 coming first and 17's would be in September; any one else have an update on this?

Inverter was standard in our 2015 FC 20FB. Best floorplan in the 25ft and under group IMHO.

With the 1000watt inverter, if you replace with a higher wattage will the wiring still work do have to replace wiring as well? I know the power control for the inverter is over the sink,

[The FC 20 is a sweet unit and worth every penny!!

Spot on Steve. It is the only unit we were considering.

Our original, strategy was to buy used in the spring of '16 after retirement. I had been tracking prices for about a year...none of which were west coast.

Due to a series of events we categorize as happening for a reason, we stumbled onto a new '14 last May ('15), and landed at a few sheckles short of 20% off MSRP. We've since discovered there were extra awnings.

We feel we got a pretty good darn price...plus a good deal on the Fiamma.

When trying to decide if we should jump in a year ahead of schedule, we finally decided that we needed to factor in travel and inspection costs, not to mention out of state transaction worries, assuming used. The 20's are a bit scarce and even more so used (IMO). We decide to jump and just returned from a fantastic 3 week maiden voyage to San Diego.

Simply put (IMO) the layout of the 20's can't be beat. The adults and 2 (now 1) pooch fit fine.

Checkout the 20's thread : http://www.airforums.com/forums/f516...rs-127845.html

Good Luck!

Bob

Colonial is telling me that they will be delivering the 2017's to buyers in the late June or early July time frame.

Find dealers on the Internet, tell them what you would like and ask for a price. Then haggle a bit. It will give you some sense of the market.

The 1,000 watt inverter 120Vac load is in in theory 8.3 amps. A 15 amp breaker would be adequate for this load. Just to create 120Vac from 12Vdc plus the overhead for the inverter operation and power line loses, the inverter has to draw close to 100 amps from the battery system. (1,000 watts / 12Vdc = 83.3 amps plus overhead).

In most installations, the goal is to keep the power wires from the battery to the inverter as short as possible. Usually five feet or shorter. The wire sizes are 2-0 or 4-0 (over " in diameter). A 3,000 watt inverter requires 250 amps so usually has a 400 amp fuse. The wire has to be rated for that current.

Shop around!

I just went through this process and spoke with multiple dealers. 15% off of MSRP is easy, just for asking. Every percent beyond that will be a measure of how well you are doing. I got 21.5% and felt that was a fair price. The closest dealer to me did not initially give me the best price. When they realized I was about to buy elsewhere, they matched my best quote. Good luck and enjoy the game!

Part of the due diligence before starting the price negotiations includes finding a really qualified dealer that has a truly competent service department. If one happens to be local and matches the price, wonderful.

Despite all the advertising, getting it al the lowest price a distance away may put you in the "least favored" customer category at the local dealer since it was not purchased from them. That is the real world.

Go to RVOne and get an online quote. We just ordered a International 27FB and they sell for 78% of list price. We quoted Flying Clouds, etc, and all were at 78%, so don't pay more

Model changeover generally occurs during May of each year. New MY Airstreams are generally stsrt showing up at dealers by early June. Better supply us probably available a month later.
